In the future, I think the #2 ranking (after week 9) should be left void..until all teams have finished the season..
that would help fend off the ESPN pump machine that swong a lot of voters 2.5 weeks before the fiasco

I think they should get rid of preseason rankings. There's really no justification putting team A @ 1 and putting team B @ 2. It makes the rankings biased. One team can get into big bowl games with a couple of losses simply because they started off ranked very high but only dropped so much. A team with two losses that started the season as #10 can't whereas a team that started off the season as #1 can.
