In their prime, Shaq , and it ain't close. As they got older, Hakeem was better, as Shaq got too big and lost a lot of mobility.

Hakeem was better player, easily. Had better shot, anticipation, feet, and mobility. Plus you could do more with him on offensive end.

Shaq had the better career, but at their absolute peaks, I'd take Dream. During his title runs, Dream had to go through Ewing, Robinson and Shaq, and he made Robinson, the MVP at the time, look silly. During Shaq's title runs, the best centers he faced were Dikembe and an over-the-hill Robinson.

One player had two stats that favored him by a MILE! Surprising stats to me.

Shaq was a sheer freak of nature, but Hakeem was the better player and had a complete game.

A healthy Yao and Tim Duncan once the admiral retired.

Shaq was more dominant, but Hakeem had a much better offensive game.

Hakeem's free throw percentage could be one.

I will say that Shaq's advanced stats were definitely better.

Umm wow..

Hakeem was the better overall player. Shaq has the big point totals that everyone likes, but he never played the defense Hakeem did. Hakeem is one of only 4 players ever to have a quadruple double. If you want a an amazing player on offense and defense, then you want Hakeem.

Hakeem was at his peek during Houston's 2 title runs and he faced a very young Shaq in the Finals.

Shaq more than held us own against Hakeem

Give me Shaq, at his peek, over any other center in NBA history. No one could stop him

One player had over 1000 more blocked shots than the other AND is in the top 10 in all-time steals list among ALL players.

Pretty shocking.

Young Shaq was much better than any center Prime Shaq faced during his title runs.

Dream was also an incredibly skilled passer and dribbler for a guy his size. He had quick hands and was incredibly coordinated (which is why so many players today seek his tutelage).
