I wanted to know what people thought of the new Remington 700 ADL, 700 BDL, 700 SPS and 770 SS.

I was looking at Academy and some of these models are $339. The 700 ADL for example. Remington 700 ADL

If anyone has any experience with these rifles, I would appreciate the feedback.

Thanks.

I am thoroughly enjoying the pp 60+ in the other thread, but I have heard so many mixed opinions about the Remingtons that I wanted some input.

If you own one, then tell me about it....it not- more Rack & Pinion pics are appreciated as well...

You do realize that they change the barrel, stock, trigger, and highly polish the bolt and action. They use the 700 because they are cheap and reliable. Not for their accuracy and sure as hell not for their fit and finish.

A much better gun for around the same price would be a Tikka T3. I do not own one but I have read enough reviews to recommend them for a budget gun. I am personally happy with my X-bolt.

Wrong.

They picked them because the bolt is one of the simplest and most solid and thus more accurate. Cheap is not something the military cares about with specialty weapons.

Been shooting them for decades from store bought all the way up to many thousands of dollars worth of custom work turning them into competition bench rest rifles. If you think the 700 is anything but accurate, you don't know what you're talking about.

Me too. I've got a 700 PSS that we've gone through that is just insanely accurate.

But you do admit that they change the barrel, stock, and trigger. They are essentially using a different gun.

I have read that the action in all 700s are the same. Maybe jeweled or not, which doesn't matter to me.

If I purchase the ADL for $340. in Stainless, this is a great deal as far as I can tell. If I want to convert to a hinged floor plate it will cost me $150 from Brownell's. 700 ADL to BDL kit

If there aren't any quality issues- as in a different action or steel involved, I am comfortable with the ADL and consider it a value purchase.

You want find a better rifle than the 700. I've got the Stainless in 7mm Ultra, and its down-range accuracy is amazing. Its a beast!

First and foremost, I have and love my remmy 700. I am sorry that you are blinded by your love for them, or just dumb.

I said that 700s are reliable. Don't try and argue a point that I agree with you on. However the stock SPS barrels are garbage. Secondly, the military absolutely cares about pricing. They choose the cheapest gun that is milspec. If not, then why aren't we all using Knight Armament ARs overseas? Oh yeah, they cost $2500.
Next, comparing stock, shelf bought 700 remmys to complete custom gun is ridiculous. That is like comparing a $20,000 Malibu to a NASCAR Malibu. See the difference? The sticker on the side does make it the same.

For what a Remmy 700 is, it's not bad. Not the best, not the worst. You will read 1000s of great reviews on it but their quality has gone drastically down hill in the past few years. Anybody who disagrees is lying to you.

Alright Sammich...

At that price point, what would you consider?

I doubt I make a shot past 200 yds.

Edit: Mossberg 100 ATR???
