do have to talk while fishing? isn't the peace and quiet part of it?

BBMcGee brought up an interesting point that got me thinking. How often does conversation arise when you go fishing with other guys? I tend to talk to my friends/dad whenever we're fishing but nothing serious and its just small talk. There are of course moments of silence where we're just fishing but I'd say it's 80/20 talking to silence. Thoughts?

Probably about the same for me. If I'm fishing with somebody else we're usually using it as a chance to bullshite as well.

I talk all the time. If I didn't feel like talking I would fish by myself.

Talk a good bit ecspecially in between catches but a lot of time for silence and relaxation. Also depends in if beer is getting drank or not, more beer more talking

I'm focused on fishing, but I will bullshite a little. As said already, when beer is consumed, conversation increases.

I prefer to fish in silence. In fact, I'd rather fish alone, but if I'm with somebody I don't like a lot of chitchat.

I'll talk a bit but honestly I'll smoke a little and will get into a zone and will be concentrating on fishing.

If Alx has trolling motor problems and we aren't catching. We have to have 5 minutes of silence. Other than that when fishing I like to talk about days when I used to catch fish.
Oh, and if there is a chick in a distant boat, I talk about that....all chicks in boats are hot from 400 yards off.

This X elleventybillion

If I go fishing with someone then beer will be drank and I dont consider it fishing as much as just hanging out drinking beer with some fishing thrown in.

Part of fishing for me is the fellowship. I love to shoot the shite with my buddies while I fish.

depends on who I'm with.

a lot of times when its my brother and I we reminiscence about the times fishing with our Grandpa and Dad and all the funny stories.

They named each and every spot we fished at.

The Drum Hole
The Pipe
The Dead Trees
Here Come The Judge
Pipeline Bay
The Hamper
The Bushel
The Sack Spot
Amedee's Spot
Sam's Spot
The spot across from Amedee
the Turtle spot
The Pipe behind Manilla Village
The Point
John's Spot
The Sea Shore

and on and on.

Small talk but depends who I'm fishing with. When I go it's by invitation so I'll roll with the flow. Normally 50/50 talk/fish.

I really need to start fishing again. I think I've only been 3 or 4 times since my wife died.

I am buying fish at the grocery now

You kids remember Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In?

Sammy Davis Jr. use to do this skit, dressed like an old English Judge and would say this.

LINK

We were on this spot fishing redfish with a friend of ours next to us fishing in their boat. We were catching, they were not. When my Grandpa would hook up he'd start laughing and saying "Here Come Da Judge, Here Come Da Judge...like SDJ would say.

This was back in the late 60's early 70's when there was no limits. I think we caught 20 or so from that one spot.

Catching 50,60, 100 a trip was like falling off a log.
