At what point do you take the offer? I am waiting for a flight right now and American is offering $500 + hotel stay + meal vouchers + earliest flight tomorrow. I would have taken this 6 months ago, but wasting another 14 hours is not worth it at this point.

If they go up to 1000 voucher, then I will stay.

Every situation is different, but I am typically willing to wait a few hours for a few hundred bucks in ticket vouchers. The over night thing is a deal killer for me unless a huge dollar value gets offered.

By the way, American is still waiting for another person to take the deal. No one looks to be in a rush.

They won't go up to $1K....they will then involuntarily bump some one off the flight...

I believe most airlines max at $500 vouchers.

They'll go to maybe $600. Then if no one bites, they'll find whoever paid the cheapest fare and IDB them. DOT says they get 2x their fare in cash.

If I didn't have anywhere to be I would take it, but then again I have a shitton of personal travel and that's essentially a free flight for me.

Are you on a flight from Dallas to BR by chance? I know someone who took the 500 dollar voucher from the 5 to the 10, and was thinking about taking the 500 offered at 10 tonight to fly out tomorrow morning.

Nope, different flight.

Didn't take the voucher -- I needed to get home. $500 is a pretty awesome deal though. Basically a free flight to almost anywhere in the 48.

I'm still kicking myself for not taking $700/ticket in ATL this past March.

Intl? DL rarely goes above $600 on a domestic before just IDBing people. anything above $400 requires supervisor approval before offering it.

When I was doing it, it mostly depended on which direction I was going. If I am on my way home, it will take something good to get me to delay. If I am going to my destination, I would do it normally because I always try to arrive early. Never would stay another day for a voucher though

Nope. Connection from Orlando to Monroe through ATL. A mom and her two kids (one kid rode in her lap) were trying to get on. When they hit $600, my wife and I started talking about it. Then they went to $700. By the time we were getting up to take it, another couple had snatched it up.

It would depend on the situation. If it delayed me coming home a day, I would probably not do it. If my wife was with me and we both got the deal, then yeah. I would do it provided I wouldn't miss work for it.

When the wife and I went on our honeymoon we met a couple from Michigan. They were on a direct flight from Michigan to Jamaica and were made an offer to change flights. They had to make a stop in ATL and got to Jamaica about 6 hours late. For that, they received $600 cash (each) and were bumped to first class for both legs to Jamaica plus food vouchers for the ATL airport. That is a deal I would take.

If I don't have a compelling reason to be there tomorrow--and by that I mean a birthday or some other family obligation--I take the voucher.
