Whatever you say coach. Bottom line, he's not a throwing qb. Never has been and never will be.

Could this happen on everyplay in the CCG against bama ,. not the safety , but the pressure ?? Pressure Defense

Well at least you gave up with your insane critique of his dropback that you've spouted off in a few different threads.

That's actually more of a 5 step drop.
I am willing to bet that is the problem. After watching it again several times, it's still a 3 step drop that he adds two steps to.
I wish we had access to the all 22 film (coaches film) because I would be money there is no way he was supposed to take the two extra steps.

<Has anyone in this thread ever taken a snap in organized football?>

Simple:
One man route. Double coverage. Max protection with 9 blockers that couldn't block a 4 man front with a LB blitz. JJ held should have thrown it in the it away.

Yeah, I honestly have no clue whether it was supposed to be a 3 step or 5 step drop, but considered it was a deep route I'm leaning more towards 5.

The issue I have on this play is the "max protection" that is suppose to be there. We had 9 guys blocking 5 and 1 of their guys got back there in 3 seconds.
The ball should have been gone...Period. That is why I stand by my 3-step drop mistake. 3 steps are for quick passes...less than 3 seconds.
The protection was not meant to hold up any longer than that.

Of course its supposed to be a 5 step drop. What, do you think he just decided to add two steps? It was a one man go route where they were trying to go deep.
Man, how I do love all these "coaches" on here.

Randle was doubled covered on a deep route. The problem is that JJ just doesn't seem to process the play fast enough sometimes. When he hit 5 steps, and saw that his ONLY receiver was doubled, he should have instantly thought throw it away and let Wing hit the field.

WTF? I had the exact same exaplaination you did. The other guy said it was supposed to be 3 and he took an extra 2 steps. I was just saying I can't be sure if it was a designed 3 or 5 because I dont call the plays. And I thought it was a 5 step drop.

I see a 5 man front with a tackle stunt. They are playing a 50 defense.

Yes...all other LSU players are accounted for.

Absolutely!!!

Too much focus is being put on what JJ didn't or did do on that play. The main focus should be what's happening upfront. Without the proper blocking, its not going to work. It doesn't matter if it is a running play or pass play. This is suppose to be "max protection". We have 9 guys blocking 5 and 1 of their guys gets back there in 3 seconds. With that type of protection he should be able to sit back there for another 3-5 seconds. He should be able to do a fricking 11 step drop, do the dougie and then throw it.

You can not see the route. And I do agree...if it is a deep route then it "obviously" is a 5 step drop.
I don't think it was a deep route but without the coaches film I can't say. I am just looking at the blocking of the lineman. He was supposed to get rid of the ball quickly and he didn't.
But yeah...if it is a long route...then you are correct.

If this is true...than JJ performed worse than I imagine on this play. He should have thrown it deep out of bounds if it was a deep route.

Yeah, he should've thrown a pick from his own endzone. Good call.

You are right. I just counted the number of rushers. Either way, LSU's max protection should be able to block a WKU 5 man front for a bit longer. The line had a great year, but that wasn't one of their highlights.

It was. I was watching from the west side and saw the entire play. OH yeah, I was with my kids so I wasn't drinking - thus I can watch a lot more.

He held on for 4 seconds. Should have chunked it, but RR wasn't far from getting behind the WKU D.
