Seems to me like he's worth his weight in gold. He's responsible for just about every great recruit we've brought in over the last few years and the RB position is one of the strongest on the roster. How are we managing to keep this guy here as just a position coach, and do you think he's going to be here much longer?

Don't get me wrong, me too. I just have a feeling things aren't going to stay that way once schools start firing/hiring at full pace in the next week or two.

He's a recruiter first and foremost. I don't think he's ever been an OC on the collegiate level. Also, his home town is New Orleans and he coaches/recruits for LSU. It's a match made in heaven for him. Besides, see Porter and Ogeron for how well a recruiter can be at recruiting and not so well as a coach.

He's the recruiting coordinator in addition to being the RB coach - he's probably the fourth highest paid member of the staff, and perhaps third behind only Miles and Chavis - FWIW, I'm not against the idea of grooming Wilson to be the next HC at LSU.

How do you know he would be a good OC? He might just be a good position coach and recruiter

Salary wise LSU will be able to match whatever Ole Miss offers, remember that they've spent a lot of money on contract buy outs in the last decade and the LSU program has been peaking. If he wants a better title they could name him and Stud co-offensive coordinators.

Being a running back coach and a great recruiter is not the same as an OC.

He's HC material, IMO. I think he goes the Larry Poter route, but I hope he gets into a better situation than LP did

Part of me thinks his best situation is in LA. If I were him I'd hope Stud goes wherever and we promote him up to OC. I think that's his best situation due to his incredible NO ties with recruiting.

I think he'll be a head coach somewhere small before being an OC. Nothing requires a hc to be a coordinator first. Some guys are just better all around team leaders than a specific offensive or defensive playcaller. That's why most teams have separate coaches for those positions.

While I agree that Frank is priceless as a recruiter at LSU and because he is at LSU it's made life a little simpler in regards to LA kids but I do not agree that he is completely responsible for all the kids being at LSU(in a figurative sense because since he's here and recruits them technically he is responsible). LSU was getting 90% of the kids offered in LA before Wilson got here and would have continued to do that well if he weren't here. That's the power LSU has in the state. Even with him here we've missed on some high profile kids instate and may miss on a couple more this year. That would happen if he weren't here as well. LSU recruits LA kids itself at this point as long as the coaches put the effort in. Doesn't take away from the great job that Wilson has done but just a little perspective. Frank's full potential and worth as a LA recruiter can only be fulfilled at LSU. At any other school his worth would be greatly decreased though he would be a thorn and likely to get a couple of kids here and there. He wouldn't tear down the fence we have on the state unless the program goes into the shitter all of a sudden.

There were some reports that Meyer was interested in hiring Stud. I don't think that would be much of a loss and would have no problem with Wilson taking over from him as OC. I don't think the Tigers should go to a lot of trouble to keep Stud here.

He's not leaving and he just got a raise. Krags became the assistant head coach

Based on his year with the Saints, he possesses no actual coaching ability.
