good idea in your opinion? There were times when he hurt LSU catching the football out of the backfield from McCarron.

With Mingo's speed, I think this might not be a bad idea. In fact, I remember that he ran down Trent from behind on one of his longer runs of the game, like 25-30 yards or so.

i don't think we'll blow assignments this time which allowed him to run free from the backfield.

Why would we use a DE to spy a rb?

I say we do the exact same thing we did when we held Bama to 6 points a few months ago.

Let HB7 or Brooks.

Pretty decent tacklers, could cause a turnover with the amount of times TR gets the ball.

Simon could easily play CB with Mo across the way.

Better idea would be to keep Ron Brooks on him. He's solid in coverage, quick, and he hits hard. Keep TM7 and Mo C at the corners and let Mingo do what he does best and get pressure on McCarron.

ETA: I would like to see a bit more bump & run on the edges. Our corners got beat on the short routes last time. Play em close and throw off those quick slants and timing routes.

You don't really "spy" any position but QB.

And a "spy" is there in lieu of the QB taking off and running in an un-designed manner.

There is no need to "spy" on Richardson, because any attempt to get the ball to him will be designed.

We simply need to cover him.

We only really have to key on ONE guy on bamas team. With a month to gameplan and prepare, Trent will have no breathing room in the title game. As for their passing game, we are coming off of facing the top two passers in the SEC and maybe college football. I really like the matchups to favor LSU.

DE are supposed to contain the outside. Tackles are supposed to clog the inside.
Linebackers are supposed to fill the lanes.

They play fundamental football. And we can stop TR as long as we don't blow assignments.

While Mingo is super quick, he has not been practicing or focusing on covering backs/recievers out of the back field. It would seem he would be more productive doing what he does, what he has been doing all season, and let a safety or LB cover TR....
