I never heard of these two.
How are they, and how much are they?

They are both very recognized older brands from the Speyside region. Both start between $40-$50 with their entry level scotch and go upwards from there.

Thanks for the info. I only began drinking scotch about 2-3 years ago. I started with JW and am trying to expand my tastes. The only problem is that I am now in love with scotch, but I am in law enforcement. I have a budget

I hear ya

The Balvenie is actually owned by the same company as Glenfiddich so you'd probably enjoy it. Try The Balvenie 12 year Doublewood. It's a good entry level scotch and you can usually find it for somewhere around $40-$50.

I usually only drink scotch that I can get for under $50. That being said:

1. Laphroaig 18
2. Lagavulin 16
3. Talisker 10
4. MaCallan 12
5. Johnny Walker Black

absolutely! although, I never have really enjoyed Oban. I think it may be a little too complex for my palate. especially the older ones.

Same damn list that I came up with. Johnny Walker red or black with a twist of lemon is the kicker.

These are three of my favorites. I have the Laphroaig 15 and Talisker 10 on the shelf at home right now.

Highland Park 12 is my #1 though... affordable and absolutely delicious. Ardbeg is another one I'm a fan of.

Cardhu is pretty tasty also, and Chivas Regal for a blend isn't bad.

I don't really care for Johnnie Walker Black... and for whatever reason I don't have too much experience with The Macallan.

good call.

they've widened their offering with some super premium directional concoctions, in addition to important aged options (18 yr., 25 yr.), you ought to check them out.

I thoroughly enjoyed LaSanta.
