Reason #99 why the Heisman is a joke

A few of the Heisman prediction rankings have Matt Barkely at #4. That guy was completely off of the radar, and then his team won one game against a good team, Oregon, and now he might get a Heisman invite to NYC. I realize that Barkely has had a good year, but how can you go from being off of the radar, to a top finalist with one good game? Don't get me started on the whole "must be a qb or rb" topic.

Barkley has better numbers than Luck. Fact

Griffin was off the radar until he beat the Sooners.
Montee Ball is still off the radar for some strange reason.

That goes back to about reason #1, "preseason hype". RGIII is the best college qb this season.

It shouldn't be about being on the radar in the beginning but a compilation of your work. Good for the Heisman - Barkley deserves it.

Honey Badger punked Oregon worse. TM7 for the Heisman!!! We've seen that highlight all year long!

Griffin has the best numbers before you add his rushing ability. And he's played the best on the biggest stage.
I have no problem with Barkley's candidacy, so long as he's #2 on your ballot behind RGIII.

So preseason hype and buzz is more important to you to make the award legit?

Keenum has better numbers than Griffin and means more to his team.

I would vote for Griffin myself. Unfortunately, I think his concussion against Tech combined with Richardson's excellent Auburn game tilted the Heisman in Richardson's favor.
I also think Barkley is a legit candidate. If I was in charge of the ceremony, I'd invite Griffin, Richardson, Luck, Ball, Barkley, and Keenum.

Nope, the best players should be there. Not just a qb or rb on a top ranked team who happened to help win a nationally televised game late in the year.

Yeah
And not that it matters in Heisman talk but if I'm an NFL team, I'm taking a good look at RG3

Keenum has thrown for more yards, but on 100+ more attempts. RGIII has a better passer rating and yds/attempt. RGIII wins the rate stats, Keenum wins the counting stats, primarily due to throwing more. And RGIII is a far better runner and has earned his numbers against inarguably tougher competition. I'd take RGIII even before we add the huge advantage in rushing.
If I had a ballot, I'd probably vote:
Griffin
Barkley
Keenum
Richardson
Luck
Though I'd be tempted to drop Richardson and Luck in favor of Ball and Mathieu.

Don't know who said it, but basically said that Luck raises the level of his team, as does RGIII, so both are ahead of Barkely.
So, Luck, RGIII, Richardson, Wilson, Blackmon, and Ball should be in NY before Barkely.

I'm confused; now you're talking about Trent Richardson?

Luck and Barkley are in a near statistical dead heat, but I really do think Luck played poorly in his big games while Barkley played great in USC's biggest games. That's the tiebreaker for me.
Though, to be fair, Luck ha a better rating and yds/attempt. Barkley has the better TD/INT ratio and more yards (due to more attempts). It's close. My tiebreaker is "big stage" games. If you have a different one, that's fair. I won't say you're wrong. they are very even.

I would replace Keenum with Luck on that ballot.
But I also would reconsider my Luck stance altogether after watching those Heisman presentation videos and learning everything that Luck does. It's no wonder he's going to be #1 and step right into a Pro huddle no problem.

I like how they play up USC and ND.

Nope, but as for Trent Richardson, many said that he lost the Heisman when his team didn't beat LSU's team. Many thought that RGIII's concussion last week cost him a Heisman, because I guess the first 10 games of the season don't matter, on the 11th game.
Why is Blackmon from Oklahoma State not on this list? He is easily one of the top 5 players in the country. Simple answer, it's all popularity. You have to fit a certain model to be considered for the Heisman, and the first part of that model is qb or rb.

Your #99 reason completely contradicts your #1. you know this, right? I say good for the voters for allowing someone with the preseason hype back in the conversation. I really don't understand your beef here.
