1) Virginia Tech loses to Clemson.
2) Georgia beats LSU in overtime.
3) Oklahoma State blows out Oklahoma by five touchdowns.

Fallout: LSU and Oklahoma State finish #1 and #2. Georgia gets an automatic Sugar Bowl bid. Alabama gets left out of the BCS.

you know, that would be sweeter than every other scenario i can think of. only problem is listening to pundits talking about how 'bama got screwed (and in a sense they'd be right)

ETA: Oops, strike that. I was groggy and didn't focus on no. 2. I withdraw my support.

Me too. I said it was an Alabama nightmare, not an LSU dream.

.....Alabama plays in the Cotton Bowl against OU and beats them to a pulp, so the AP names them champs just to screw things up.

I really want to see how the voters respond if Okie St beats OU and Clemson beats VaTech. According to LSU Matt this gives OSU it's best chance to jump Bama. They would still get Sugar, but how enjoyable would it be to be heading down to the quarter as the Gumps were going home.

That's about par for the course for them. Five of their thirteen are that way.

And this WILL happen by the way, if LSU and Bama don't play and both win.

I wonder who Les Miles would vote #2 in that scenario. After all, he did coach at Oklahoma State and Mike Gundy was his offensive coordinator.

The AP trophy is as meaningless to me as the FWAA trophy and the NFF trophy. There's only one trophy that is handed to you immediately after the game, on the field with your school-colored confetti falling on you and that's the Crystal Football.

If LSU is 14-0 and Bama is 12-1 there is no way the AP is going to name Bama Natl champs!

In the scenario I presented, LSU would be 13-1.

Which is why your scenario sucks.

That would be the stupidest thing that the AP could do.

Put a 13-1 team over a 14-0 team that beat the 13-1 on their home field. The entire AP poll would forever lose all relavance.

I still don't see how they could name Bama a champ in this situation.

LSU would have one more win than Bama, with one of those happening IN Tuscaloosa.

Interesting thread and such...

However, I am a bigger fan of LSU than I am a hater of Bama (or any other team...)

I want LSU 14-0 come the end of the second week of January!

Me neither. LSU perfection is far more important to me than Alabama schadenfreude, but it would still be funny.
