Need feedback on QB situation.

Is there anyone that knows if Mett has the ability to be better than our current two headed QB. I ask this because I believe that J. Lee was a more hyped recruit than Mett, and J.Lee's practice/h.s film was amazing.
Does anyone have any first hand assessment on Mett in regards to mechanics, footwork, or decision making?

I think he'll be on par with a poor man's JaMarcus, but there's no telling. We're not a QB driven system.
I honestly only replied to see if I can still post after pumping up that vag thread.

No. Mettenberger was a big-time recruit who got less attention than deserved because he committed to UGA so soon in the process.
He has a great arm, great frame, and is similar to J-Rock in the sense that he's not a run-first guy but he can get some yards if a play breaks down.

That's why I ask, what if he comes in and completely changes our offense and we become unstoppable with the pass and the run. I honestly believe that next year will be very special.
I believe next year will be the most anticipated season of Tiger Football.

Jefferson and Lee were both ranked higher than Mettenberger coming out of HS.

J-Rock

Lee had all of 1 year as a QB at the HS level prior to his Senior Year. He was an...offensive lineman...prior to that.
Dude may have been hyped, but Mo Claiborne & Honey Badger should've taught ya'll that rankings mean shite.

I hope you are joking but he is referring to the great Jamarcus Russell, the man child who could through a football 60 yds on a knee.

Also, Mett will have better QB coaching than our current two head one. We've already seen the improvments Krag' brought to JL and JJ. Imagine multiple years of an actual QB coach. So glad we finally got rid of GC. We see how Maryland's doing.

after he committed to LSU and he showed out at the camps. He was originally a 2* I believe. The recruiting board melted down when we offered him.

Nope. All 4-stars and Mettenberger didn't get the benefit of a late-season evaluation like Lee and Jefferson since he committed to UGA so early. Many Georgia fans will tell you that they thought Mettenberger was a borderline 5-star talent who just didn't get hat late-year bump like guys who let the recruiting process drag on longer.

Nope.
Lee #7 Pocket Passer
Jefferson #8 Pocket Passer
Mettenberger #11 Pocket Passer

And Jefferson was hurt his entire junior season when the primary evaluations are conducted. Hell, the guys at rivals were saying on NSD that if Jefferson hadn't been injured his entire junior year, he would have been ranked in the Top 5

To the OP, here is what Coach Miles said in his Monday presser when asked about the QB position next year:

It sounds like he is excited about Mettenbeger and also has a want to sign a top notch QB in February (Kiel?) and that there would be an opportunity for said top-notch signee to compete for PT.
Also, I found it interesting that Miles specifically mentioned that Randall could play other positions (specifically WR or DB).

On the quarterbacks behind Jefferson and Lee...
The quarterbacks behind them such as Stephen Rivers is a six foot seven very capable thrower and a very bright young understudy. Zach Mettenberger, again in my opinion is really coming. He is a tough capable thrower, more athletic than when we first met him, he is getting stronger and leaner. That is a very good thing. Jerrard Randall is a multitalented guy that can play a number of spots. He is a very talented athletic style of quarterback that could also play wide receiver or possibly a secondary back. We need in this class a great quarterback. Frankly, there would be great opportunity considering we are graduating our top-two. There will be great opportunity at competition for a lot of playing time for a young talented quarterback. We're looking at a number of guys there and we're very optimistic.

Those are all different years so it's relative. They were all 5.8 4* if my memory serves.

Okay. And?
My point is that Mettenberger was a forgotten man completely by recruiting services. He had a better arm, better mechanics, and a better frame than Lee or Jefferson coming out of high school. Do you not remember JJ's mechanics at Destrehan?

Mett passes the ball better than any LSU QB since Bert Jones. Will he be as good??
