I agree, that the interlocking LSU would be a great default logo, there are several versions to consider.
Here is the same logo in the geaux font:
And if we want to continue using a Tiger logo, why not use a variation of the TAF logo?

Anyone who wants to change the LSU helmet should be banned from LSU football games. Period.

Not that this is a fantastic logo, but even this would be a huge step up over Toonces.
