They couldn't the last time this was posted, and nobody could remember him saying that. Once again, I smell BS.

I don't think anyone can. But it doesn't matter what he said then. All that matters is what the talking heads at ESPN say.

And "I will not be the coach at Alabama."

Really, he's worse than a politician.

I do remember him and Pete Carrol lobbying hard for Oklahoma to be excluded because at the time it was going to be either LSU or USC left out of the game, and both were pleading their case to be included.

This was said by one of them, but I can't remember which one.

No - I couldn't find anything. In fact, he talked extensively about supporting the system and a split championship as a legitimate outcome in the 2003 case.

quote:

"If we had not lost that one game, we wouldn't have the problem we have right now," Saban said. "We believe in the system and we will live with the system. It's probably not a perfect system. Until we have a playoff, which I've never been in favor of, we'll probably never know who the best teams are."

LINK

quote:

"I don't think anyone will know who the legitimate national champion is unless all three teams in consideration get the opportunity to play one another," LSU coach Nick Saban said.
