lsu has another game left against a top 25 sec team, while bama gets to sit around and have a "bye week". this means more opportunity to get players injured, and more game film for bama (if that matters)

SEC champ still means something despite what some may think.

And now that its down to just Alabama vs Okie State, that will become apparent. That conference championship will loom large, imv. Go pokes!

i hate this line of thinking!

Bama doesn't get the *PRIVILEGE* of playing for the SEC title!

LSU wants to play an extra game, because it means LSU has a shot at winning the SEC title.

Good googly....

No, it's not.

In most seasons, the team that doesn't play in the SECCG would not be in the discussion for #2. The CG gives you that extra advantage.

Bama has backed into it because of losses by other teams.

No big deal.

If LSU closes, they may be the best team in CFB history.

Pretty sure the LSU team doesn't feel like they are being punished, since in fact, they are playing to champions of the SEC.

LSU will be the SEC Champions and then still have a month to rest up. I don't see anyway that LSU is being "punished" for winning that game.

The BcS is a joke. Bama lost at home and does not deserve a rematch. How a team can not win their own division of a conference let alone the overall conf and get a shot at a Title in a "non" playoff format is total crap.

No it doesn't. That's just why everyone is arguing about all this. Winning the conference means nothing if the team that ended up second in one of divisions can have a shot at the national championship.

That's the way it works out sometimes.

Remember, LSU controls their our destiny while Alabama has to rely on other teams to win or lose. If OK State or Stanford had won certain games, the Gumps would be sitting at home when the BCSNCG is being played.

Thank goodness the players don't think this way. They worked their arse off for the honor to bring home the hardware and get a ring.

"Thank goodness the players don't think this way."

No doubt. LSU put themselves in the driver's seat by beating Alabama. At that point there was no way to know how the season would play out.

At all of this talk makes me feel like with the way the season has played out, LSU fans wouldn't of minded losing to Bama that way we get some rest and don't risk injury. I don't get it.

Finally someone gets it! Letting the Gumps in totally devalues the SECCG . It says that championship does not mean anything because we will let the second place team play for a national championship. Total bullshite. They DO NOT deserve another shot. And No , I'm not scared. It's just not RIGHT !

punished really i mean are we not undefeated. If we win next week won't we be SEC champions. Les said he would be honored to play them again. They get one more week's rest but the result will be the shame. It will be decided on the field and I guess I must be the only fan excited to watch LSU kick their arse again.

No it's not right, but it is the system that is in place and for now we can't do anything about it. Without a doubt the two best teams in college football are LSU and Bama right now. Yes we beat them, it ain't fair but let's enjoy the ride, the rest will take care of itself.

Maybe it devalues the SECCG for the fans but not for the players. History remembers champions, not teams that won allot of games. Next week is a championship game. Regardless of what happens in the BCS, it won't change the SEC champion.
