Starting my third Skyrim character

This isn't an indictment on the other two, I just want to experience all three play styles and can't wait. I started off with a mage, then made a 2 handed Orc and have loved that so far, but I'm also going to start my sneaky bow and arrow guy. Not sure which race I should go with.

Wood elf or Khajit. Argonian wouldn't be bad either.

Couldn't Khajit not wear shoes in Oblivion? If so, does that hold true now?

I just kind of level up everything

I like my dark elf. He does one handed, destruction, sneaking, smithing, light armor, and archery. khajit is probably the best pure thief race.

Went Khajit. I have never played any kind of thief/archer/sneak character. Excited.

My one and only character so far is a sneaky khajit. Been digging it so far.
Dagger assassinations and long distance arrow sniping FTW!

Why do people change characters when you can level up anything with any character? I have the equipment to be a warrior but also sneaky but can also bust out some magic when I want to. While it takes a little longer to level up, I like having it all in one file.

Is health or Stamina more important for this kind of character?

shite! I had a lvl 22 warrior and I made a new character. When I tried to go back to my warrior he was gone. Can I not make more than 1 character?

There's no wrong way to play, but you will be able to slice through enemies with greater ease if you stay specialized. Many enemies are somewhat scaled to your level so you can be average at a bunch of stuff at a certain level, or you can be great at a couple of things at the same level. I prefer to stay specialized so I can play multiple times with different specialized characters, and each one can be awesome in a completely unique way.

Your characters are probably tied directly to your save files, unfortunately. If you saved over your save files for your old character, you are probably out of luck.

HEALTH. I invested in some stamina early on for my stealth character, and I regret it. Sure, the stamina lets you carry more, but it's pretty useless in combat for stealth characters. You usually will be one-shotting anyway, but when you aren't, daggers don't seem to use any stamina unless you power attack.

WTF! So how should I save from now on? Or am I gonna have to stick to one guy?
Posted on 11/16/11 at 8:44 pm to audodger
Yeah I get that I guess. But I feel like you put sO much time into one I would hate to have to redo everything that I've done already.
Side note: I would imagine trying to takedown a dragon as a stealth thief is pretty difficult

I recommend having about 10 save slots. The oldest saves stay at the bottom, so you can keep other characters in the bottom few saves. Always save over files in the top half of your saves to keep from deleting save files for other characters. Also, keep at least 2 files for each other character so if you acccidentally delete one of them, you won't be screwed.

It's one of the hardest parts of the game for me, but it's not too bad. I have dual-daggers with perks that make one-handed much stronger and dual-wielding much faster. I keep a few potions on hand for dragons. Also, the shout that stuns him comes in handy.

What kind of armor do you use?

I started with a traditional fighter and quickly started over doing this. I probably rely on magic the most, then the sword, then bow. There is actually a lot of opportunity to build your bow skills shooting at really powerful shite like Giants while up on a bolder or something high.
