Haha, I was thinking Community College.

I don't know, but my dad called me earlier today asking me if I had heard this. He and my brother-in-law were going to go play. My brother-in-law called the club house, and they said that they were shut down.

All signs point to tax evasion.
Before anyone responds, this was 100% in jest.

Pine trees, huh? Fancy.

Right after I edit my tax evasion post to point out I was joking.....
How in hell is a country club tax exempt? That is why I hate our tax code.

Most of them are because they are "owned" by the membership and profits can't be distributed to individuals.
They fall under the same exemption code as fraternities/sororities and homeowners associations.

From what I have heard, they have been losing money for a while. They were hard up for members also. I loved playing there. Pretty course and always good tee times. Course is practically empty in the afternoons on weekends. I don't know why, but everyone plays the farm, Viex Chenes, and the wetlands instead.

Probably correct. I was just thinking about all of the courses within a 25 mile radius of AHCC:
Indian Hills - Opelousas
The Farm - Carencro
Oakbourne - Laffy
The Wetlands - Laffy
Muni - Laffy
Vieux Chene - Laffy
Le Triomphe - Broussard
Squirrel Run - New Iberia
Tri Parish - Cade
Crowley Course
With this many opportunities to play, its probably not a wonder they have closed.

Tri Parish used to be public in the 60s.
When I came home from college in 1970 I met some friends in New Iberia to play a round.
We came up to the clubhouse and they had changed their name and went private.
Desk Guy: You can't play here unless you have a member who lists you as a guest.
Big Guy who heard my name: Hey, was your daddy named "Blondie."
Me: Yes sir.
Big Guy: He's my guest. And I'll pay for his fees.
I would love to play that course again just to remember those times. It was short, but lots of trees and ditches.
I'm trying to remember Big Guy's name. He was from St. Martinville.
I played Muni in Lafayette. Does it still have lights for night golf?
I caddied for my Dad at Oakborne. Do they still have bar carts with drinks? Dad always ordered a Salty Dog.

My favorite course. 10 min from my house, and easy to get on in the afternoons on weekends.

I was a member in the late 70s and early 80s at Acadian Hills - always got good Saturday morning tee times.
