well with the way games are released in series, the devs have it in their best interest to make the game right so that people will remember and be willing to buy the next installment

Depends on the problems...party and connection issues are server-related and can't be stress-tested until release.

You'd be amazed and probably shocked how little the right hand talks with the left hand in regards to fixing common platform-wide issues.
The "devs" are working new shite by the time a games released, so the ones working the "fixes" are probably a whole new team of people. The devs probably never know what was wrong when it went live.
