Do you realize that you are putting Bama on a pedestal and saying Bama is the number one team? LSU would have to play an SEC CG Just to have the honor of playing Alabama again in the BCS? Wtf? IT should be the other way around where it would be an honor to play LSU.

Absolutely pathetic.

JEEBUS!!

What about Okie State? They have no conference championship game to play, either.

No one is "wanting" to play Bama again. Many have simply stated that Bama IS the #2 team and may DESERVE it (when all is said and done....not today)

What if I just like beating them and think we have a better chance on turf in New Orleans...

no I'm saying that Bama is the #2 team.

I dont WANT a rematch, LSU matches up much better with Boise/Stanford/OSU.

The goal of the BCS though is to put the best 2 teams in the BCSCG. Even today, with 1 loss, I have a hard time saying OSU/Boise/Stanford are better teams than Bama

I do not want a match-up just to watch all the gumps come unglued becuase they believe it is their right. We went into thier house and beat them. They should not get another chance. Matt Mascona is silly on the radio today flaming to get callers.

I do not want a rematch. I think it's unfair to ask (assuming we win out) a conference champion to replay an opponent who did not have to make it through conference play and the championship game, and get, effectively a do over for the championship. I would feel the same if it were LSU. I'm not saying I wouldn't argue for us against the game if we happened to be #2, slightly ahead of the SEC champ, but even that would not seem right. I would certainly argue against a rematch if we ended up 2 against an SEC Champ to whom we already lost that season.

Having said that - I'm not scared of a rematch either. We understood the system, the rules and the process by which the #1 and #2 teams are selected, prior to the season. No sense griping about rules that seem inconvenient or unfair now.

SO if BCS #2 is Bama, so be it.

Thats because they're not better than Bama. But, Bama had their chance, at their place, and didn't get it done. Too bad, so sad for Bama.

Why should LSU have to beat Bama twice? LSU has nothing more to prove. The Tigers beat them on their own field, in their own stadium with everything in Bama's favor. Playing them again would only benefit Bama. It's stupid to even suggest a rematch.

I do not want a rematch because we have already beaten Alabama. If we play them again and they win, we would have beaten Alabama once and they beat us once and yet they win the championship. Doesn't seem fair to me. If we play best 2 out of 3, then you got something.

The fans that want a rematch aren't pathetic- just misguided.

No way Bama deserves a rematch against LSU, even if every other team has one loss. Here's why-

If Stanford, Ok State, and Bama all have one loss, what do we know? That one of those teams (Bama) has already played LSU, at home, and didn't get it done. You have to now give Stanford or Ok State the opportunity.

Besides, if Bama beats us, what does that prove? The series will be 1-1.

the goal of the BCS isnt to make sure everyone gets a fair chance, it's to put #1 vs #2

So to me, the best resolution is for Stanford to remain unbeaten and be the #2 team. This would be an attractive national t.v. matchup--2 unbeatens, the perenially tough LSU Tigers with the nation's top defense vs. the likely Heisman winner, Andrew Luck & the Stanford Cardinal. They do have a conference championship game this season, since the Pac-whatever it is called has I believe 12 teams (at least).

why? In 07 Kansas, in a BCS conference, only had 1 loss and was left out of the BCS title game for LSU, and rightfully so cause LSU was the #2 team.

This notion that you have to give everyone a fair chance to prove it, is opposite to the whole point of the BCS which is to find #1 and #2 and let them play for a NC

The only thing that really grinds my gears is the thought that playing in Atlanta could be a disadvantage to us resulting in injury while Bama could get to rest. It just wouldn't be right... Also they shouldn't get in above an undefeated Stanford or OSU to play a team they already lost to while these other 2 have not had that opportunity.

You are right. I sort of made this same point in a thread on SEC Rant:

quote:

Yeah, we should be THRILLED to have to finish our schedule unbeaten and then have to beat the East champion in the SEC CG just to have the HONOR to play the same team we DEFEATED in their OWN HOUSE (while they just sit back and enjoy an extra week off.)...No thanks, NEXT please.
