I'd consider myself a little bit more than a casual gamer, I probably average around 10 hours a week, 95% sports games. I have never played any COD game, last FPS I bought was Reach, and that's because my family back home used to play a lot an it was a good way to stay in touch for us to play together. I enjoyed Halo but ended up getting burned out because I never felt like I could put in enough time to get good enough and would always get beatdown and got to the point where none of my friends got on. I'm considering getting MW3 because it seems like it would be a fun game to pick up and shoot up some people from time to time, I have a solid number of friends who say I can play with them, I would like the gaming boards opinion of the experience for someone who will only be able to put in a few hours each week.

here's my suggestions:

- take some time playing Survivor Mode. It'll give you a slight idea of the maps, weapons, movements, controls, and you won't be getting creamed from the get go.
- find you a team of friends to play with that are on your level. learn to play together. it becomes more enjoyable and competitive.
- be patient. it's a very fast moving game and does promote some gheyness. don't give in quickly. find what your strong suits are and stick to them at first. then evolve to becoming an overall good player.

You'll have fun. Really good game to just jump in to and start killing some peeps.

Best bit of advice I can give you is whichever gametypes allow you to do XBL party chat and you are playing with friends, do it. All online games have their share of tards, but COD tops them all. Either that or plug your headset in and turn down the volume.
