Since we played both teams, I'll throw my 2 cents in on this game.

First, I went on SEC rant in preseason and said LSU was overrated. Boy was I wrong. LSU is stacked and they keep impressing me. On to the game...

I think the game is dead even. Each team does have it's weaknesses though.

When Bama runs- Advantage Bama
LSU has a good run D, but to me it is all about Richardson. The Bama O-Line is strong but your D-Line is just as good, but i don't see anyone stop Richardson. He is just a beast.

When Bama passes- Advantage LSU
Your secondary should be able to cover their recievers pretty well. The key though is your pass rush. If you let McCarron sit back their all day, he will find an open reciever. I actually think McCarron is solid, but the recievers are their weakness. Watch for Richardson catching the ball as well.

When LSU runs- Advantage Bama
Ware is the most violent running back I have seen in a long time. He is about as good as Richardson, (richardson has a little more agility and vision), but Bama's size and depth is the biggest factor here. You have lived on pounding the ball then going over top on tired D's. That won't work on Bama. They have so much depth in front seven. You can get enough yards to move sticks though, maybe around 100-150 total on ground.

When LSU passes- Advantage LSU
Your recievers are impressive and your O-Line provides great protection. Again, the pass rush is so huge. Can you block Upshaw? If you do, I think Randle hits some big plays. Your tight end and backs can get some yards against Bama's D also I think. Bama's safeties are a little overrated as well I think.

Prediction- I think it's a great game that goes down to wire. Ultimately I think Bama's front seven stops your run well enough to keep defense fresh, and helps save their best for end of game. I think it's 24-21 Bama with 2 or 3 min to go. After driving down the field to around the 35 or so, Upshaw gets around the edge and sacks Lee causing a fumble that gets taken back for a TD. 31-21 Bama.

I would not be surprised to see you go in and jump out to a big lead as well. The intagible edge is in your favor big time. Your team has a swagger and level of confidence that I haven't seen a team have in a while. The talent is so close its impossible to say one team is better, so come saturday night I will be surprised at anything that happpens.

:idk:

Your team did. 77 yards no?

DID YOU KNOW:

7 of TRs 10 100 yard rushing games have come against teams with losing records.

My brain says Bams, Heart says LSU.

I will say this. Before we played both Bama and LSU I thought Bama was better. After playing both, LSU impressed me more. I think Bama wins, only because of depth in front seven.

Bama's LB's are better, but we'll play more guys on the DL...as far as experience, we're deeper in the front four.

I believe Alabama will have to play a little better to stay even. LSU Special Teams (particularly kickoff & punting) may well prove a huge advantage. Brad Wing is a weapon in himself.

If anything, LSU has the depth advantage at DL. Bama has the LB advantage.

I thought about breaking it down more, but I didn't know if people would be interested. Such as, I think Bama attacks your run D straight up middle. I think Bama is worried about their passing game and your pass rush. To counter this, I think they run right up the middle and use Richardson as a reciever alot. LSU should beware of Richardson as a reciever and thats why Richardson is the most important player on field.

I think your underestimating Bama's D-Line. They have some really talented guys that are 3rd string. Bama's D-Line doesn't get noticed because they are in 3-4.

They don't get noticed because they're job is not to be noticed. 3-4 defenses are set up for the LB to succeed. Bama has terrific LBs. LSU asks the DL to make plays. Advantage LSU at DL.

At first I was going to compliment you taking this to an LSU board, being a UT fan and all (I wouldn't take the time to analyze the Vols, let alone post on their forum) but after I really dug through your analysis, all I have to say is:

What I mean is, your run game won't be able to wear Bama down like you have some other teams. Time of possession is a HUGE factor in this game. If one defense is on the field a long time, the other running back will start burying people. With Bama being able to keep their guys fresh, it allows for a better pass rush as well.

I really don't think Trent Richarson is as good as they say he is. Dude is physical and a beast runner, but he hasn't faced a defense like us yet. We seemed to handle him the last two years, yes I know he was hurt last season.

I noticed you haven't mentioned our special teams AT ALL. This is the X factor that I think will tip the scales in our favor. If we carry over what we were bringing to Auburn on kickoffs, Bama is gonna be hurting. Literally.

Also, Wing needs to have another WVU type game. If he does, TR might get some serious yards, but that will only be b/c Bama will be running out of their own EZ. I'd love to think that we won't have to use Wing all that much, but that's just wishfull thinkin.
