I thought it might have something to do with the onside kicks. The opposing team would not know which side the kick was going to

If you have to block a certain guy it can be hard to see where he went whenever 10 guys come running at you.

Hairston was interviewed on the radio shortly after he committed. Said he can onside kick from a normal kickoff approach.
