Why is the screen so successful with Pierre Thomas?

Is it just my perception or is the screen play execution better when PT is receiving the ball? Is it his patience and/or better timing allowing the blocks to be set up? I'm just wondering what the difference is between DS, MI, or PT running the screen. It seems like a slight nuance that translates into success or failure and I trying to figure out what that nuance is. Thoughts?

That's pretty much it. That and he has really good balance and he's able to keep running when someone gets a hand on him or pushes a blocker back into him.

I'd venture as far to say that in 09 PT was the best screen pass rb in the league.

Yeah, that's what I thought. Sean can only teach so much then it's up to the players ability to execute. That is, Sean can teach the technique and patience part, the rest is up to PT.

It works ok MI not yet a screen pass threat. PT has been running that play since his rook season so he knows how to peel off a block and catch a 3 yard pass and pick up positive yards.
I get worried when breese gets flushed out of the pocket. I would like to see the stats on those throws.

What is this sentence saying? Did you forget a period?

I think he could be, but PT is just so good at the screen that there's really not a good reason to let anyone else do it

PT is one of the most slippery backs I've seen in the NFL. When he runs it's not like he breaks tackles, it's like he just slips through people. It's awesome to watch.
The screen with PT for a long touchdown was huge in every one of our signature wins in 09. We hadn't seen them get back to that until that great run PT had last game.

I think our run game would benefit from
Pierre getting more touches than he currently is.

Can Pierre Thomas be an every down back? Does he have that ability?

There's some serious football talk going on in here.

Because we do so well throwing the ball that if you setup something on the side of the field with blockers it's fairly effective with a good back that doesn't get tackled easily.
PT is that back.
PT is that back.

Ability, yes. Durability, probably not.

Doesn't matter. We don't use anyone like an every down back.

PT is one of the best RBs in the NFL in running the screen. I think it is between him and Ray Rice. IMO it is a combination of patiende and properly using your blocks. The QB delivering a soft ball in stride does not hurt.

Forte also belongs in that group, but yes, they are the best
