I am tired of hearing this question. It is a fact at this point that both coaches are excellent. So the only difference is LSU's coach is not an a-hole/Egomaniac.

While you can say subjectively Miles is more charming, you can also state objectively that Saban has won two championships at separate schools that you can't state about Miles.

Yet.

Even though I would tend to believe Saban is a better coach overall you would be hard pressed to find a coach doing a better job than Miles this year.

A head coach is only as good as their staff.

I think getting 'The Chief' at LSU has really helped Miles cause and saved his arse multiple times.

if you argue that LSU should be #1 based on results on the field (playing Oregon, etc..) then you must argue that Saban gets the nod vs Miles based on accomplishments (2 NC at 2 schools). Mile is a GREAT coach but Saban has the resume.

I thought that was answered last year when Bama/saban got fooled on the little reverse..... not just the reverse, but the game.. also, with the way CLM has handled this years issues, and kept the team focused .... I can't see how one could put him below Saban... Not to mention he has maintained the #1a team so far.... What elevates Sagan over Miles? That's the question for me....

the one with the better players is generally the best coach.

Unless of course you are coaching against ULM, Utah State, etc. Then it comes to coaching.

Those coaches that lose to clearly inferior teams have holes in their prep.

Given equal talent, there are probably at least a dozen or more coaches that will prepare their teams to play well against the other.

The both have their pros/cons

It's like asking: what's better? fricking an STD-free experienced stripper vs virgin.

Both have their pros/cons and different people would answer differently

Saban yells on the sidelines, therefore he's the better coach

At this point, the evidence supports the position that Saban is the better coach. Saban has two NC's, three SECC's, four BCS bowl appearances, two undefeated regular seasons, one undefeated overall season, and a single one loss season.

Miles has one NC, one SECC, two BCS bowl appearances, zero undefeated regular seasons, zero undefeated overall seasons, zero one loss seasons.

Now, there is still hope for Miles to win this argument in the long run...but only if he prevails this year. If Saban wins on Nov. 5, he will have the head to head advantage and will VERY likely go on to win his FOURTH SECC and THIRD NC with his THIRD undefeated regular season and his SECOND undefeated overall season. The argument would be over, for any honest observer.

Saban is a better coach by a mile. Miles is almost as good of a program manager and has gotten better recently.
