It was my understanding that we got some type of new grass on the field this year that was suppose to hold up better that the previous grass. Yesterday it was noticably torn up to the point that verne and gary commented on it and the D-line changed shoes late in the game so they didn't get hurt. I'm not complaining, just interested in why this is happening.

When you play football on grass, it gets torn up. Combine that with a lack of growth once the cool temps come in, and you get what you get. Being in a bowl doesn't help.

They should plant St. Augustine. We played football on it as kids and it held up very well.

The turf in TS never looks that bad at the end of a game unless there has been rain, etc...

I've been on the field for two of the games and it has been so dry it's almost crispy feeling. I thought when we redid the entire thing to enhance the drainage we also installed a good watering system.

It appears that the guys that manage the turf must be cutting corners...

Are you sure it's grass? Auburn looked like they were playing in quicksand.

At this time of the year? After this many nights in the low 60s and 50s? ok I guess. I've seen complaints about the turf every year I've been on here. Seems like people would get the hint by now.

You're going to see them next year BTW.

Gary joked during the game that it was because LSU had too many day games this season

The turf crew removed most of the SYNTHETIC turf on Wednesday at coaches request.

In another month after a few freezes, I would understand. That grass looked over watered to me. No excuse for this this late in the season....someone screwed up.....bring in George Toma (NFL and turf expert)...

With such a stellar landscape architecture program, kind of interesting this keeps happening. You got them in house, use them.

Just watched the replay. The grass was/is beautiful. It looked like the field was soft from over watering. Nothing wrong with the turf. Just looked like poor planning.

I actually thought the field has looked better than it has in years.

In 2008-09, it was awful...brown and clumpy.
