Brokedown Palace
Being in prison with a bug crawling in your ear doesn't sound like fun.

While in Italy the Italians swore by vacationing in Thailand. "EVERYTHING" is dirt cheap.

Never been there and don't want to go. Every movie I've seen makes that place look like an absolute shite hole.

Never saw the beach but Brokedown Palace sealed the deal that I would never go to Thailand.

Screw movies, Locked Up Abroad has pretty much cut my vacation destination list in half.

foreign prisons are seriously one of the reasons I do very little foreign travel.

Agreed. Although i do find it sad how much I allow fictional depictions of foreign countries to influence how i view them.

Moving there in January. I can't wait.

Is it safe to assume all the people claiming Brokedown Palace are drug mules?

Good luck. I hope not Bangkok.
I was in Bangkok for a week in 1994. Everyone is trying to hustle you from street vendors, cab-drivers to the kids on the street. The bars are all (sex on stage) and the streets make San Francisco look clean. I was coming up from Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) and still Bangkok felt like a major step-down in living conditions.
Once you get there, ask about the sandwich massage. They have them on every corner like Taco Bells.
