To answer your question, this mother fricker feels this way...
1) I was on a scholarship and would have lost it for weed due to it being an ROTC scholarship if I were to have failed a drug test.
If these kids violated rules that are part of their scholarship conditions than they should receive penalty.
2) You do not have to be in the military to be a true fan like one of you replied. I was simply drawing a parallel. The fact is that I had to make some very hard decisions that greatly affected the lives of some tremendous kids and their families when they made bad decisions.
3) The last comment I made about JL was that I want my kid to grow up with determination, pride, and character. JL is not the only one in the team like that, but he stands out.
4) To answer another question. I was commissioned in 2000.

I agree with a lot of what you say. I am an alum and have been a fan for over 40 years.
If the fact that they are facing suspensions means they have pissed hot more than once, considering their positions and this teams potential, it is particularly disturbing that they would have so little regard for others, teammates, coaches, fans. I do not agree they should be dismissed without knowing all the facts and I trust Miles to do the proper thing.
Posters that say "no big deal", "just kids", etc fail to grasp the concept of shared responsibility to the team, the school, and the fans. It is the essence of what makes a team successful, putting the good of the team ahead of your own selfish desires.
I want my school to beat Bama so bad I can taste it. But if these kids, according to team rules and LM should miss that game, that's the way it is.
You of course know you will be ridiculed by the "duh, every body smokes shite" club with tens of thousands of posts.
Thank you for your service.

i agree with you would be great to see how the rant would handle this situation if bama/auburn players were involved
if Saban acted like Les has i wouldn't give a shite.....probably poke some fun at the bama fans.
if Saban kicked them off the team i'd think he was an idiot

the players have no responsibility to the fans.

You have no idea what JL or any of the other kids are like. You watch them for 4 hours once a week and then judge them based on a few actions that make it to the public.
This is the idiocy that happens when you worship college kids
Posted on 10/20/11 at 11:40 am to cdupuy
Well said. it is amazing that people don't recognize the selfishness these players exhibited. Instead, they attempt to justify it as one mistake made by a college kid, however, they simply ignore the fact that in order to get suspended there had to be a second positive test. These players knew the consequences of their actions, but did it anyway. Given Miles track record with discipline, it is not surprising that these players thought they could get away with it.
I know a lot of "kids" that either worked in college or at 19 and 20 didn't go go to college and had full time jobs. If you fail a drug test at work, especially if work a job requiring the operating of machinery (or as a driver of a vehicle), how many second chances do you get? Please stop making excuses for these guys they screwed up not ONCE, but at least TWICE.
Finally, I'm tired of LSU become the new Thug U, it's time for Miles to step up and do the right thing. Chip Kelly suspended LaGarrett Blount for almost an entire season for throwing a punch (and no criminal charges filed), I would argue it made his team better in the long run, it would be nice to see Les do something like that, but given his previous performance, he will likely suspend the players for the shortest time possible (either under School, SEC or NCAA policy) and there will be no other consequences.

so when the head coach and assit coach, teamates, announcers and other peole involved with the program have nothing but praise for a guy's character, who has been around for 5 fricking years... we shouldnt believe them?
GTFO.

You are correct and have a point. I only see them for four hours. Maybe i should use the example of Brees. I still want my kid to have determination, pride, and character.

I must have missed the overwhelmingly positive critique of Lee off the field. You have to admire his determination and preservation, sure. But I can think of quite a few current and former Tigers that got more positive praise for good works off the field. Don't know why anyone would single out Lee in that light unless THEY have a conscious or subconscious agenda.

Let me help you understand.
Jlee has been around for 5 years.
In 5 years how many tmies has he gotten in trouble?
When he is being interviewd regardless if it was last week or 4 yrs ago, what does always say?
When Lee's number was called last year what did he do?
What has he done this year?
Does he complain?
Does he have the attitude and demeanor that is as fan is desirable from your starting qb?
I could go on and on.. but Ill stop.
Hopefully you were just trying to be difficult and I really didnt just make you aware of something.
