Anybody that thinks that the Sugar Bowl remaining in New Orleans is contingent in any way on Tulane being D1 in football, or even existing as a university, is a fricking retard.
There are numerous bowl games in cities with no D1 football: Shreveport, Detroit, Mobile, Arlington, San Antonio -- that's just off the top of my head.
Also, La. Tech was the host for the recent NCAA women's regional in Bossier City. So, a nearby school can host for NCAA tournaments. So LSU could host in New Orleans. Besides, even if Tulane dropped down in football, they would still be D1 in basketball.

No Tulane was looking to drop down to UNO's level.
