Gonna be making my first bowhunts this weekend , any must-haves for my backpack that I wouldn't have in there for rifle hunting? Tips?

Something's getting stuck this weekend :nana:

that is a sick feeling. It's like bringing bullets and leaving your gun. I used my thermacell this weekend and I'm still eat up with skeeter bites. The area around my eyes was all that was visible and I've got close to 15 bites around my right eye.

Only have one release

I keep in my backpack normally 2 flashlights, leatherman, thermacell, all my calls, gloves, mesh face mask thing, thermometer/compass, skinning knife, map (not really necessary but gives me something to look at in the stand and pick different areas to check out), bullets (will have to take out), and that's all I can think of but I probably have more. Gonna stop at academy on the way out and pick up a few of those screw in hooks for trees and a gun rope to pull my bow up when I use the climber.

I figure I'm good to go but just wanted to see some discussion

Headlamps are useful. You can be hands free.

Oh yea, absolutely. I have a clip on one from browning that has two white leds and a red led. The red one is more useful than I thought when I saw it in the house.

Keep your release on your bow, probably gonna need a thermacell, rope to pull your bow up, some blood trail marking material, shite paper, dip, and a compass.

Never go without shite paper. You will come out with a sleeveless shirt eventually.

I've had my stomach do a flop halfway up a tree one time. That was an awful feeling trying to jack down that tree quickly.

I've got a very nice mammut one. Sum bitch is bright. Also has a clip on plastic shield that works as a lantern for in the tent.

socks are cheaper.... BUT, it's hell to get them tight arse LaCrosse knee boots off of sweaty, sockless feets, back at the camp...

The sock is also the more efficient way to go. Just put it over your hand and you have 360* of wiping.
