I get and understand the rule and I think that this is NOT what the rule was supposed to be about.
It should have been a TD and if you want to call a penalty (which would still be questionable) then enforce it on the kickoff or extra point.

Taunting should never be more than a dead ball foul. It has nothing to do with the play or its outcome. Worst rule ever, without question.
Tell me what it is that you understand about the rule, and why it makes sense to have it impact the live play?
