Heard this stat on Songys show yesterday. Kinda makes it sound a little special doesn't it? That's because it is. One game at a time.

I wish more people would realize just how cool that is, and quit their whining.

Wow. That IS special.

1958

1959

but I am not sure if we are talking modern era. I knew this UK game was definitely a rarity and something a majority of us had not seen however the confusing part is does 1958 and 1959 count? Im just a little confused

wow we were #1 for both of those games. I had thought we were number 2 or 3 for Florida and number 2 against Arkansas.

I thought LSU was ranked number one following that game?

They were. USC was #1 that week and lost while the florida-LSU game was still going on. They announced it at the game and the crowd erupted. We were still down at the time, but it was still awesome knowing that if we could come back, we'd be number one. And the rest is history.... Greatest game I've ever been to.

Not exactly.

USC was the preseason consensus #1 (like OU this year).
However, by the UF game LSU had jumped USC to #1 in the AP.

In 2007 we played 4 games as #1: UF, UK, Ole Miss, and Ark. UF and Ark were in TS. UK and OM were away. Until last week, those 2 games were the first since Billy Cannon's run we had played as #1 in TS.

yeah, I was at the game but thought LSU became the consensus number one after the game. I could be remembering wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

They did.

They were 1 in the AP for the UF game.

The USC loss against Stanford gave LSU the top rank in the Coach's Poll as well.

100% correct.

LSU was only #1 in the AP going in. USC lost - announced during the game. So, following the UF win, we went into the UK game as consensus #1 (and physically beaten up)
