It's nice to see the change in the passing game through our first five games this year vs last. Below are the stats for each season and includes combined stats for both QBs:

2010:
64/114 (56.1%)
655 yards (131 ypg)
2 TDs
7 INTs

2011:
72/119 (60.5%)
885 yards (177 ypg)
8 TDs
1 INT

A drastic improvement to say the least.

This is the main reason why last year every game was a struggle and this year every game has been a blowout.

Vs better competition also.

It doesn't matter though. Don't you know your "QB" HAS to be able to run. He can be a terrible passer but that's ok!

some dropped passes, some JL is at fault for.

Dont throw our WR's under the bus just to justify a side in the JL vs JJ debate

I think 60% is a pretty good completion rate. However, the drops would almost put him at 70%.

Heck, it would be Lee for Heisman if the receivers were catching the easy ones - 2 to 3 more touchdowns, for sure.

They need to catch the ball, no matter who is throwing. There were a good number of drops last year when both QBs were in.

Turnovers/game:

2010 = 1.84
2011 = 0.60

That is a big reason LSU's done so well. That is just turnovers by LSU.

Takeaways/game:
2010 = 2.46
2011 = 2.40

Basically getting the same number of turnovers too.

First downs/game:
2010 = 17.54
2011 = 20.25

yes there are some dropped passes but a dropped pass is like Randle in the endzone against WV. A dropped pass is not when Shepard has to jump out of his shoes to barely touch a ball soaring over his head like he had to do at least twice today.

Both JJ and JL bring our WRs down, not the other way around. We have plenty of skill in the WR corp to have a good offense if we had a good QB to throw to them

There were 8 official drops in the game today, not just fans pulling a number out of their arse, but I understand your point. There were plenty of "drops" that his the receivers in the hands in a position they should've made the catch.

our QB's, both Lee and Jefferson, bring down our WR's not the other way. No one in the country is thinking "wow LSU could be real good on offense, if they could just find someone to throw the ball to"

There were plenty of balls sailing high on WR's too.

There were at leat a half dozen drops today and that is not isolated to just this game. We've been struggling with drops all year.

Just what I said the first time. Don't throw the WR's under the bus for the struggles of the passing game.

QB play has been and still is the weak link for this since Flynn left

WR play has been mediocre since Gonzales took over for McCarthy. He's just not that good of a WR coach but is a decent recruiter. His coaching is also for spread type offenses like he's coached for over many years while with Urban Meyer at his various stops.

The WRs have gotten worse with drops. JJ's regression also coincided with Gonzales' arrivale as Passing game coordinator. That isn't a coincidence.

only in your head. you must forget the struggles guys like Bowe and Lafell had holding onto the ball.

more on crowton and the actual level of talent that JJ and lee possess. Neither are very talented and that is why they play badly.

No, only in your head. Yes, they dropped passes but there were more than a few dropped today.
