How strict are people/cops about this? I want to grill on my balcony instead of having to go all the way downstairs (away from my TV). Surely this is ok, huh? Not like I would have a 10 foot high flame. Small, portable grill, flames would not reach a foot.

Big deal, or am I just being a pussy? TIA

I thought so. I did it once and no problem. I think I'm just being paranoid.

I'd go downstairs so that the smoke has somewhere to go. It will likely build up underneath your balcony. Here is what I would do if I were you.

Grab a cooler, add some beers, your burgers, and condiments. Take your grill and cooler full of goodies to the pool, and say hello to every female that walks by. Chicks are always hungry. If you can't get laid with that plan I can't help you.

Did you end up manning up and cooking something good?

Most places have a rule that you can use gas on a balcony or such but no charcoal.

I think you are okay as long as it's not charcoal. I think propane is okay, but there is a rule about charcoal because of the fumes.
