Just said Dodds told a small group of reporters this afternoon that any conference that has UT will have to accept the LHN as it is. They will agree to share Tier I and II TV football revenue. But he said anyone who wants their own network can go and form one.

This seems like a backhand to OU since they would be the only ones left in the Big XII who could even consider their own network.

So how in the hell will there be equal revenue sharing in the Big 12 when Texas will always be making $300 million more than anyone else in the conference?

Then the options are:

1) shitty conference with puppets

2) independent

at Texas.

Big12 or Independence...those are their two options. Wow, Texas has really played this one well if those are there only two options left, lol. Those are some pretty shitty options.

Have fun scheduling all of your teams as an indy, Texas!

Even the service academies like Navy and Army are potentially joining the Big East for football only.

As I said in another thread, I think UT is going to arrogant OU right out of the door.

won't budge?

quote:

“I don’t think our network is in play,” Dodds said. “Our network is our network. Anybody can do one. If somebody thinks something is wrong with our network, and thinks it’s hurting the conference, we would absolutely address it.”

Why should they?
OU blew their wad. OU has been rejected by both the Pac-12 & Big Ten in the last six months. Where are they going to go? The SEC won't take them if they are tied to OK State, which they are.

As one OU fan said-
It seems like we got a Valentine's Day card from the guy who raped us.

Everyone thinks their network is hurting the conference...

At least in a sense where schools see it as a huge threat and are leaving or threatening to leave. What does he want, a certified letter?

All these miserables will have to "stay together for the kids". It really is awesome.

its $300M over 20 years, so $15M more a year.

Also I'd imagine it would be dependant on how it does, if not enough providers pick it up, will ESPN renew in 20 years?

Such bullshite. That whole damn conference thinks something is wrong with it, and Texas is giving them the finger.

I don't know the political climate in OK. But if I'm an OU fan and I have had enough of UT to leave but then won't be allowed by my little brother school in state, my head would explode.

They can, thanks to the Pac-10's decision.

Yep, and everyone else in the conference is free to sell their 3rd tier rights for as much as they can negotiate without sharing with anyone else. Exactly the same as the SEC.

Actually, Texas may have put itself in a tight spot. It can't go anywhere either.

What happens when the little schools gang up on Texas? Votes are counted equally. What happens when they vote in a bylaw that 8-1 that you can't show conference games on institutional networks, followed by a vote that intentionally breaking conference bylaws results in a forfeiture of Big 12 TV revenue money?

What does Texas do? Go independent?

After everything is said and done, UT gets $9M a year. Kansas makes $7M a year and nobody cares. It's not the money. It's the content - the high school and conference games. We'll see how that goes.

Nobody cares about getting the LHN money. Texas got a reasonable value for its third tier rights. They just lumped it over the next 20 years to make it sound like more.

you have to define "budge"

"budge" in the sense that they will not give up any of the money nor let any other university jump in as a part of a regional package? No, they will not budge.

"budge" in the sense they will show zero high school sports in any capacity, nor broadcast any conference games? ehhhhhh....they may have to "budge" on that
