I'm assuming this is the end of the Alabama/Tennessee rivalry (unless 2 more western teams join and Alabama moves East as well).

As much as I like the idea of moving East (playing UGA, UF, UT every year),
Do not want. We're watering down our product here.

Printing that was a bold move.

It's not any worse than having arkansas in the league. Both programs are about the same caliber in the long run. Arkansas is better now but I think they are the same in the long run. Mizzou destroyed Arkansas a few years ago in a bowl game. Plus, Mizzou has a high quality basketball program.

I hope this means Auburn can make Ole Miss their traditional rival in the East. Let Alabama keep Tennessee. Sounds like a win for everyone.

What the hell am I missing here? Does that not sound like A&M and Missouri to the West and Auburn to the East? Doesn't someone else have to go to the East? I guess that's still TBD.

Do the simple arithmetic. Adding 2 teams to a 6 team division and moving one team to another 6 team division leaves each division with 7 teams.

how to add and subtract?
6+2-1= 7
6+1= 7

great news.
another columbia college town (SC and Mizzou)
another tiger (LSU, AU, Mizzou)
another tiger team named after civil war fighters (LSU, Mizzou)
another UM (Ole Miss and Mizzou)
another AAU member (Vandy, Florida, aTm, Mizzou)
am I missing something?

Uh,....yeah your missing something. Adding 2 to the West and moving 2 to the East is the same as adding 2 to the East giving them 8 and leaving the West with 6.

Alabamian math at it's finest!

Clearly, I was confused.
Yikes.

does this mean UGA (freed up now that Auburn is in the East) would play Mizzou or aTm permanently?
and since presumably Bama and Tenn drop the rivalry so that Bama can add Auburn, that Tenn will play either Mizzou or aTm?
just trying to figure this out...

While they add considerable TV markets, Mizzou will be another Ole Miss in the SEC. Fodder, and yes a watering down. I think they made it to the Big 12 champ. game once and got drilled by OU. And that was with key players from Texas which will dry up considerably.

That's possible. Even more likely though, I could see an end to perma-rivals except that AU and Bama would agree to play every year.

There is no way Slive can end the Bama/UT game. If he does this he just spit on the history of the SEC. That game meant more than any other over the course of the last 80 years of conference play.
Sad day for college football when the third Saturday in October is over..... Makes no sense.

It's that or the Iron Bowl.

This is why I still think there might be 2 more Western teams coming with Bama moving east as well. I just don't see Bama or Tennessee voting to move Auburn East.
AU to the East gives AU a significant advantage when recruiting in state players as well as those in Georgia and Florida. "Mom and Dad: Do you want to make short day trips to Athens, Knoxville, Gainesville, Columbia, SC, Nashville, and Lexington or do you want to fly to Missouri, Texas and Arkansas?" Adding Texas trips to Alabama's recruiting arsenal offsets this some, but not enough to make it even.

I was watching PTI and they had Boeheim (sp- Cuse BBall coach) on as a guest. But when they were discussing expansion etc, they came right out and said FSU and VaTech to the SEC, buyout or whatever and that it would be A/M-Mizzou and FSU/Va Tech once it all shakes out
