SEC Wants Louisville... Kentucky Saying No

In the latest unexpected turn on the twisty, gnarled path that college football conference expansion is taking, Louisville and the University of Kentucky are now steering the SEC’s ship for the time being. The bottom line . . .
If the SEC expands to just 14 teams, the conference prefers that 14th team to be Louisville. Kentucky does not and it has veto power, in effect, for any school within its borders. This is the same arrangement for Florida, Georgia and South Carolina regarding FSU, Georgia Tech and Clemson. As such, if membership is capped at 14 the league will have to go elsewhere for that final addition.

With Louisville and WVU now assumed out of the mix – at least at this time – the SEC’s options are more limited than most of us have thought to this point.
Hmmmmm......

Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan tweeted this article... figure he wouldn't just put up a random article... esp. since he's a Louisville guy

Suddenly, Missouri is back in the discussion as the 14th conference team.
This guy actually thinks that Mizzou is "suddenly" back in the discussion after talking about Louisville and WVU????
I'm not Slive but it is more than safe to say that Mizzou >>>> WVU/L'Ville to him and the league.

I think Louisville would be a good fit and would help basketball wise as well
Screw UK, if Bama and Auburn and Ole Miss and State have to share resources why should anyone get to block another team if it makes sense

Does Louisville bring in any new money? Or would they actually end getting fat off the SEC dole? The answers are obvious,

If its true we said no to WVU then we have #14. Who it is is only a guess but its done.

We do not want UL, this is UL saving face. We will take FSU as #14, unless we take ou,ut,a/m,osu. Then we will be done.

It's not just Kentucky. South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia are doing the same thing in regards to Clemson, FSU, and Tech.
Louisville would be an awful fit. They bring nothing to the table. Kentucky already has the Louisville media market, they're just as bad or worse than Kentucky in football. Worse in almost all other sports, and the basketball team is in decline. Plus they have an AWFUL fanbase to boot.

Louisville brings no real new market to the SEC so I have a hard time believing they were ever really wanted.

These guys want to tailgate with y'all.

Louisville brings nothing to the table that the SEC doesn't already have.

This. SEC already has the Louisville market, which is 50% UK fans anyways. Louisville's student body is nearly 50% UK fans. Most people don't realize how small their fan base really is. Charlie Strong was actually on TV complaining about this yesterday.

I'd have to say ... Nah. I might reconsider if Becca Mann came back as a cheerleader
;)
(heads up - googling Becca Mann images is definitely NSFW)

No team who has ever had "The Ville" on its jerseys will ever receive an SEC offer (although UGA's uniforms were just as bad in the Boise game). Louisville was in CUSA less than 10 years ago. Stop dreaming.
