SI's Banks hints at Ingram being a bust

Pretty rediculous after two games

• It's early, yes, but so far it looks like the Saints' latest flirtation with a Heisman-winning running back will be closer to their Ricky Williams and Reggie Bush experiences than their George Rogers experience. Mark Ingram has a modest 91 yards on 27 carries thus far (3.4 average), with a long gain of 12 yards. He doesn't have a reception, but he did lose a fumble on Sunday against the Bears.

Jesus tapdancing Christ.
1. The Saints don't run to win. They run when they need to or when they're completely mauling a DLine.
B. It's been two games.
III. In a league paradigm where RB depth charts work in committee, and ESPECIALLY on this team that's the case, why in the world is this douche expecting him to be all world anyway?

So two games against 2 strong defenses and he's ready to label him a bust? I wonder if he called Manning a bust after his first 2 games.

Good God.
This is getting out of hand.

Regardless, you don't draft a RB in the first round. Most of the time you can get a serviceable one later in the draft. You do have the Adrian Petersons though.

I'd take him being Ricky

I would like to see Pierre get a few more touches than what he has been getting and allow the competition to truly take away from PT with Ingram's development as the season goes. I do feel like Ingram is being given a bit much "undeserved". Not being critical of ingram, just allow for the natural competition to take away PT's carries.

I'm not sure they realize what the Saints are trying to do with Ingram. Yes, they were impressed with his camp, but he is still a rookie. The Saints, under Payton, have always brought rookies along slowly. I, like Chad, would like to see PT carry it more often, but if you can't see that they are trying to preserve these guys for the stretch/playoffs, then you are being short sided. They did the same thing with Reggie in 2009, and he played well in the playoffs. Keeping PT, Ingram, Sproles, and Ivory (when off the PUP) healthy is going to win them some tough games later.

Not to mention that they don't really give RB's 25-30 touches in this offense. If Ingram doesn't rip off a 50 yard run, the national media goes apoplectic. When you have a timeshare at RB, it's difficult for one guy to go all Adrian Peterson, especially in a pass first offense like Sean Payton's.

To me he hasn't ran with the eye popping wow did you see that since is knee injury last year at Bama. Hopefuly he just a little tentative and doesn't trust his instints. Once he comepletly confident in knowing his assignments you will see the real deal.

We need alot more threads about what someone said about the Saints.

He went from being rookie of the year to a bust in 2 games... Guess there is nothing in between
Posted on 9/20/11 at 1:10 pm to Melvin
Most of the time he has only been used in short yardage situations. He hasn't really been set up to get a ton of yards. It's going take awhile for Payton to find Ingrams niche.
