applied and were rejected by both ACC and SEC, told that by WVU officials.

i would still be surprised that any school formally applied to a conference without prior talks that made it a mere formality.
from everything we have seen. WVU formally applied to the SEC.

Seems to me like they saw the Big East falling apart and figured they'd take a shot in the dark and apply to the ACC and SEC.

The SEC i believe. The ACC I don't. Solid football & basketball teams. Good fit within the ACC imo.

There's such an amazing amount of bullshite being thrown out these days I stopped believing it until it comes straight from the horse's mouth.

It is hard to believe that WVU would formally apply to the ACC knowing where they ranked in the pecking order for that league. Why would they set themselves up for embarrassment?

I tend to agree with you. It makes sense for a school to contact other conferences, but I would think they would not submit actual applications unless they were very sure they would be accepted.
