If JJ does Redshirt

I could see him doing like Jeremiah Masoli and transferring to Ole Miss to finish his career.

Please GOD do not let him redshirt. We are set for 2012 and 2013. No need to mess that up.
Just don't transfer to an SEC school.

he should go shine at SU
Posted on 9/19/11 at 10:32 pm to coachjeaux
i cant imagine him redshirting AND staying at lsu, so i guess the answer is yes.
either come back to lsu and this is it or take the redshirt and transfer

I think he would use up all his eligibility if he went to another SEC school, wouldn't make sense.

Not if he enrolls in a graduate program not offered at LSU.

If you have graduated college you can transfer your last season to any school to enter grad school. As long as that school offers a grad program in something your original school did not offer.

Correct, and so the natural question becomes "is he on track to graduate this Spring?"

Anyone who would not want this as an option may be clinically stupid.
I've defended JJ as much as ANYONE on here...but I've seen Mett play. He's GOING to be the guy in 2012 and I'm damn excited about it!
That being said, we'd be stupid to not want to have a guy with that many SEC starts as a potential back-up on the roster in case anything happened with Mett. Are you guys seriously suggesting we'd be better off with Mett and Rivers as his backup this early? I realize some of you have the hate on for JJ, but damn...self preservation ought to kick in at some fricking point.

FCS or LSU are his options from my understanding. Unless he thinks he has an NFL shot, I'd finish at LSU with my head high, get my degree and get on with life.
It really is hard to believe with all the shite that goes on in football that a bar fight derailed him this badly. Then again, look at Mett's situation. The difference is that his happened as a FR instead of SR, allowing him another chance.

Oh well I wasn't really considering that he might have graduated or was on track to graduate, that usually comes as a surprise most of the time if a player has graduated.

Wasn't it being said when he first was implicated in the bar fight deal that he already graduated?

They're afraid that JJ would start as a 5th-year SR over a JR Mett. 32P3 would then become 12P1. Otherwise, JJ would be an awesome backup.

He supposedly graduates in December. If so, he can transfer anywhere without having to sit out.

Eh...this should only be a fear if you believe that the guy being paid millions fo dollars to guide LSU to wins is either so blinded by loyalty, or so pitiful when it comes to talent evaluation that he's start the guy who gives LSU the worst chance of winning games.
I assume Mett would get the job, but if Miles handed it to JJ I'd assume he earned it.

His Auntie said he was graduaiting in december,
I have to say that would be the greatest Miles stunt ever if he got Houston Nutt or his successor to take JJ for his RS senior year.
It would be like th old punked show and before the game Les could sneak up on Nutt and and ask him who is your starting qb tonite and Nutt would respond JJ and Les and the Tiger fans would break down and scream you have been punked! The only worse part for Nutt would be actaually have to watch JJ attempt to play qb!!

And see Rickey Jefferson playing for Nick Saban.
If JJ is getting screwed, this will not sit well with family.
