What About Hawaii for the Pac-12?

Why is Hawaii never considered for the PAC 12? They are as Pacific as it gets!! They are a decent football program and per capita put a ton of players into the NCAA and NFL. If they were invited, those players could stay and play at home and become a much better program in my opinion. Heck Hawaii already beat one PAC 12 member (Colorado) this year. Just curious as to why Hawaii isnt involved in ANY conference expansion?

I would imagine travel is the main reason. But holding the PAC CG in Hawaii would be pretty cool.

Travel shouldnt be an issue? Washington to Arizona is already pretty far! Right now, Hawaii plays Louisiana Tech so i imagine Hawaii can make it work.

Top 25 US New & World Report
Cal, Stanford, USC, UCLA...oh and Hawaii...
Plus travel isn't worth it...it takes 6 hours (longer than flying from Seattle to Miami) to fly from Seattle to Hawaii...hell, the shortest distance is LA to Hawaii and that's 5 hours which is like flying from LA to New York.

if pac 12 is as adament about academics as they claim, then it isnt going to happen.
hawaii is a terrible school, just like boise st.

True i guess, but Washington St brings no market! Hawaii at least brings Honolulu. PAC 12 members could sell their recruits on getting to go to Hawaii 2 times in their career. There are plans of renovating Aloha Stadium i believe. The NFL basically told them to, or lose the Pro Bowl.

honolulu has 14 permament residents and 3 of them watch football

Listen, travel shouldnt be an excuse...period. If a "crappy" school like Hawaii can make travel happen in their current conference, then im positive that the current PAC 12 members could make it happen.

Dude what are you thinking - buy a map. It's like 2.5 hours at worst. Hawaii is more than double that at the shortest distance.

False, Hawaii actually has an undergound football base. They have a ton of local talent. Just check out the NCAA and NFL rosters and tell me that if Hawaii joined a bigger conference that they couldnt become a legit program.

There is a big gap in Hawaii academics and the Pac-12 schools and there is no emphasis from the the university to make the athletics better. There is a reason why June Jones ditched them to go coach at SMU which hadn't had a winning season in two decades. Even after a BCS bowl appearance and all that money Jones raked in for Hawaii, those tightwads won't increase the athletic budget. Hawaii belongs in football pergatory until they make some changes in admin.

So adding Texas Tech and Oklahoma St are awesome academic schools now? They do have decent fan base, they just play in a crappy conference. Look at their attendance figures for when they play PAC 12 memebers at home. Its night and day!

The Pac-12 doesn't need UH so why go through the hassle?

light years ahead of hawaii or boise.
plus, they have upside in different areas, namely market, fanbase, and if you want OU you def have to get OSU.
i imagine TT has tried to attach itself to UT in a simliar fashion.

Those teams won't be going to Pac-12 without OU. So what hot chick is Hawaii bringing to the party?

Moving their footprint east benefits the Pac-12. Adding UH and moving games even farther west does absolutely nothing and would undoubtedly cost the Pac-12 money. Luckily Larry Scott actually knows what he's doing

Plus the entire conference division could add a game to their schedule
