Is Texas to SEC possible?

Why isn't this on the table? If we are going to add teams to the SEC why don't we just go get A&M and Texas and be done with it?

I dont' believe they want the SEC

GB, Texas is going to Pac-12, going independent or salvaging the Big 12...no way them come to the SEC...don't think it was ever considered.

They (the decision makers at Texas) are scared sh*tless of the idea of going to the SEC.

Makes sense but the SEC needs a big time school. I'd be upset if we turn to Mizzou. I would be OK with West Virginia, but I would really like a big time addition.

Same reason Texas to the Pac-16, Big-16, etc. isn't on the table. No conference other than the Big-12 will let Texas be an unequal partner. Some people think they're too big to play by the rules.

I'd take em, but they get = amt of what everyone else gets.
Bet A&M would be PISSED!

Adding Texas to the SEC would be the equivalent to adding Terrell Owens to your pro-football team... Yeah he is a great football player but he is not worth all the baggage

No, texas thinks they are too good for the SEC, and SEC wouldnt take them and put up with their shite.
Least likely scenario in all conference realignment

I really don't think the SEC would want a school with that big an ego to join the SEC. We've already got 5 or 6 of our own.

Texas will join the conference that lets them keep all the revenue from the long horn network. SEC would not even consider letting the long horn network happen. The reason things are imploding or because of the millions associated with the network from ESPN.

I don't think Texas wants to play Bama, LSU, Aub, UF, etc when they can continue just playing their one game schedule. They don't even have to play @OU, they get the game in Dallas.
But it would be humorous to see them promptly put in their place during conference meetings.

No.
They are too big of pussies.
Or maybe A&M is just out of their damn minds.
Something like that.

My cousin UT grad said there would be civil war with the academic side if Texas tried to move to the SEC.
I think most Texas football fans want the SEC for time zone and many other reasons. Few want the Pac 12 with 10 pm kick offs.

Texas has a Cal-alum president who has always wanted Texas with the academic elites of the Pac 10/12/14/16. Ultimately, this is his rodeo.
Only way I could see Texas to SEC is if SEC was only conference who says that Tier 1 & Tier 2 TV rev will be shared equally among conf members but Texas can keep LHN as is for its 3rd tier TV rights. I have always wanted Texas in the Big 10 or ACC for selfish geographical reasons but to watch the aggie meltdown it would almost be worth it for Texas to go to the SEC.

You should ask your cousin why it even matters when talking about athletic conferences. Besides, Texas wouldn't even be the top academic institution in the SEC. Vandy wouldn't leave the SEC for $100 mil. Does your cuz know that Big 12 and SEC academics from top to bottom are pretty much equal?
