UL Lafayette football game atmosphere

I am a Nicholls fan and I attended our game against UL last night. They have a phenomenal atmosphere. Their tailgating is awesome from the way they setup to how covenant they are to the stadium. Every tailgate that we passed by was extremely friendly. They offered food and beer.
Entering the game no one wanted to kick my arse for wearing Nicholls gear. When we got in everyone went straight to the beer stands where they sold 16 oz draft beers for $6. Their food was great as they had many different choices around the entire stadium at different individual stands.
During the game they played music the entire time and there was a ton of things going on around the stadium. Fans were dancing in the stadium which was something I only see at Saints games. It reminded me of a Hornets game in how much they have going on. The end zone area was very kid friendly as most kids ran around playing on the levee and laying on the grass.
I have been to ton of SEC games going on away LSU trips. I routinely go to Saints games as well as Southland conference ones. I 've never seen anything like it.
ULL does a fabulous job if only they can get a good team they could really have something special. Thanks to the Cajuns for being so hospitable!!!
Does anyone else feel this way about their atmosphere or was I just extremely drunk?

This is what happens when your football program is mediocre.

Quick Question: Throughout your visit, how many times were you interrupted by a ULL fan that started immediately referencing the team's 1996 victory against Texas A&M?

They have a pretty decent gameday atmosphere, its honestly not quite as good as McNeese's, but they try.

All the stuff you described shouldn't be necessary for a Division 1 football team. All the promotions and "fan friendly" crap you are talking about sounds like stuff that LSU would do for volleyball or soccer.

Recored attendance was 28,741 last night.

Glad you enjoyed your time. Too bad you didn't come by my tailgate. I cooked some delicious pork roasts.

The student section filled up later. It was empty for a little while but most of the stadium filled up by half. I didn't see many nicholls fans there to be honest.

I can agree with most of what was said. But the only thing that really bothered me was the stadium crew pumping in the music over the loud speakers. This is college, dammit. ULL has a good sized band that has a very good sound - always have. However, I rarely heard them play. Hell they even started music over the sound system while the band was on the field during pre game playing the school fight song. I think bands are part of what makes college football the best sport out there. They need to stop fricking it up.

We were wearing red also and we didn't leave the beer stands.

Yeah that pic is about 45-30 minutes before kickoff. The stadium filled up much more than the pic posted.
There weren't many of us there (there really never are many of us even at home games). But I was actually surprised at the Nicholls turnout. We were pretty much all sitting in Section J, by our cheerleaders - between the 25 and 10 yard lines on the north end of the visitor side.

That picture you took was way before the game.

Yeah, that's the complaint a lot of our fans make too. It's also a complaint LSU fans make as well. The piped in music seems to be a trend that none of the fans like. Our band has awful timing though, at one point Blaine Gautier had to turn around and tell them to shut up when he was trying to get a play called.

they definitely need to be smart about when to play and when not to play. But quarter breaks, time-outs, things like that are perfect times for bands to play and I just never really heard them.

Yeah, I like the grass because it's something that's always been there but the stadium would actually look much more packed if people sat in the stands rather than out on the hills too.
