It looks like these 2 conferences will be rivals in the future.

If you add in the number of NFL players from each conference Pac16 (Includes Texas and OU) it equals the SEC 16 (With Missouri and Virginia)

That was a stat I looked up recently however without the state of VA it's almost equal across the board of NFL players per conference.

The money will be better in the Pac16 but the SEC will have better Marquee teams.

The Pac12 is far and away the winner in alignment not the SEC. At least the SEC secured TAMU or we would be in a world of hurt getting to only pick from..

Mizzou, WVA, FSU or TCU.

I think the SEC should go after TCU to help break up the new Texas Market which will be dominated by the Pac16.

It's about to get very interesting.. I wonder if FSU wants out of this new basketball conference and joins the SEC? Otherwise we are looking at slim pickens..

It will be harder then ever to recruit Texas going forward.

The state of Texas isn't going to all of the sudden forget about LSU/Arkansas/Bama/Florida etc in favor of Washington/WashingtonSt/OregonSt/Arizona

If anything, Texas/OU to the Pac16 I believe tremendously benefitis the SEC in terms of SEC exposure in Texas.... Texas will become an "SEC state" over time.

Agree outside of Texas, TTU, OU, OSU travel is pretty insane in the PAC 16. Sure you have games in Florida, but the SEC West is a lot more doable than the PAC 16 schedule.

I think a move to the Pac hurts UT in recruiting. What poor family is going to want to make 4 trips to the coast to see their kid play.

How?

Kids grow up rooting for schools by proximity and the conference those schools play in. Texas is a Big12 state now and it will be a Pac16 state next.

It will never be an SEC state. The SEC will get a share but it will never be bigger than the top schools by proximity to recruits playing in the Pac16.

OSU, OU, Texas Tech, Colorado and Texas hasn't changed since the Big12 it won't change in the Pac16.

ASU and AZ aren't any farther than Iowa State. Texas Tech is much closer to ASU and AZ than Iowa State.

Also you will have PAC 16 teams all up in Texas now so USC and the other guys will get alot of exposure in Texas now. There is now way the State of Texas becomes a SEC STATE.

That is so much of an afterthought now it's not even worth discussion. If your kid is playing for Texas, ha, you'll find away to travel to 2 or 3 road games outside of 650 miles.

Plus, these schools do not care how far parents have to drive. It's not their fault the parents live in Brownville, Tx.

If the kids parents live in Lubbock they have easy drives.

This guy gets it.

TAMU's argument getting the best kids over Texas and OU just went totally out the window.

This helps Arkansas which I'm happy about but doesn't do much for the SEC as a whole.

LSU and Arkansas should not be happy about this..

You think it's hard to recruit Texas now with Stoops and Brown running the show wait until other names get into the door (USC and Oregon).

Texas A&M's argument "we will have a recruiting advantage over Texas and OU by playing in the SEC," went completely out the window.

I highly doubt anyone knows how this will play out. It appears to me that A&M will benefit more than anyone, including Texas.

How?

It's a wash for TAMU as Pac16 or SEC. The Pac16 is the obvious winner of the of the SEC which gives them level footing with the SEC for the first time ever.

No one knows how it will play out but logic and history gives you a good example how it might work. Just as the best teams in the history of college football come from fertile recruiting ground areas..

There should be a Pac X-SEC Challenge every year similar to the Big Ten/ACC Challenge that they have in basketball.

They would sell a lot of tickets having different parts of the country competing against each other.

You COULD argue that since Texas already gets about 90% of the kids inside the state that they target. Bringing in the Pac and Sec might hurt Texas and they start getting maybe 85% of the kids they target. If that happens then Texas didn't benefit from the realignment. But then you'd have to assume that Texas would also start recruiting California a little harder and maybe that'd make up for what they lost.

Aggy will be getting their shite pushed in for the next few years. MAYBE there are some kids who want to play in the SEC so bad they'll put up with losing, but I think recruiting will suffer at first. So Aggy isn't benefiting, at first anyway.

I'd argue that the Pac and SEC benefit more than either of the Texas teams.

We'll see, where before the state had one real conference (12 teams) vying for the state's top recruits. Now we'll likely have 3 (30+ teams)
