I doubt he gets indicted on 2nd degree battery. Hillar, IMO, is letting this go to the grand jury because he doesn't want to prosecute this but he doesn't want to seem like he's showing favoritism and he thinks it won't get past the grand jury.

Again, has anyone heard of one or more of the group of players that were at Shady's saying the JJ's were not involved?

Maybe they have said it, but I think there would be screams if ANY player has professed their innocence.

Eyewitness over conjecture and assumption every time.

i think a player either tweeted or posted on facebook the next day that JJ wasn't involved. can't remember who though.

we could definitely use him around the goal line. What would having him on the team hurt now anyway?

As long as we do not the option to the short side of the field, he could come back. I like what Lee is doing, but JJ brings something different to the game. Lee has the arm and JJ the legs.

In my view...this has nothing to do with JJ playing or not playing.

i don't even think he should start...but if charges are dropped he should be immediately reinstated

Then it should be really easy for JJ to identify the "real" kicker. Identify the "real" kicker in a closed door meeting and have Miles give the "real" kicker the opportunity to apologize to JJ in front of the whole team before turning himself in.

I think the attorney's argument is exactly correct. I sense the physical "evidence" is flimsy at best and likely non-existent and hence the investigation is totally dependent on testimony of questionable 'witnesses'.

Otherwise, the DA would make the charge.

Considering the nature of the alleged "crime" and its level of seriousness (a bar fight for goodness sake), all of this is a terrible waste of taxpayer resources and may end up being an horrible injustice to Jefferson personally.

The attorney is correct is affirming that no court action can rectify the damage done to JJ should it eventually not prove worthy of a trial.

Am I the only one bothered by this? I will be pretty disappointed if it comes out that JJ didn't do it and one of his teammates let him take the fall.

Unglesby describes Jefferson's role in the scuffle as that of a concerned teammate who intervened only to separate other LSU players from the melee.

I thought jefferson wasn't involved at all and was seen by bouncers being away from the melee?

the stories, they are a changing...

Well at least JJ will have his street cred if he is cleared and doesn't play his SR season

If they don't have the evidence to back up the charge, then charges need to be dropped asap.

We could still absolutely use jj in red zone. But I have a feeling lee is about to go off.

The attorney is a bit right though. The investigation is a joke...and it's only hurting the kid. Not saying he's not guilty, but there certainly isn't enough valid evidence to suggest so.
