I no longer give a frick about these things. He's said twice he's not playing for Germany. It's like CFB recruiting now.

I wasn't aware Avery Johnson changed his name to Tim Chandler.

I don't think it will happen. Germany is very deep at every position.

I don't even understand how he can do that at this point

Never played for Germany at any level, I believe.

Thus, he can have a one-time switch (like Edgar Castillo did) and be tied to Germany forever.

Not getting his club team's permission for The Gold Cup is now huge.

I admit I've only seen him play about twice, so forgive me about being a slight SoccerTard here, but would he ever even play for them? I of course want him to play for the US, but I didn't get the impression that he was someone that could get much PT with loaded Germany.

Too many factors come into play. Injuries, clubs not allowing a player to play. Maybe he doesn't like Jurgy? All it takes is a Euro/WC Qualifier against Iceland.

I'd assume he would want to play for Germany if he had the chance.

It doesn't matter until he is called up for the absolute side (and accepts). It is then set in stone.

I like the guy and hope he is one of our backs for the future. If he does plan on playing with Germany I just wish he hadn't wasted our time. Guess we find out soon.

That's not true. He would do really well in Germany's system. He wouldn't be an auto start or anything, but he'd play.

i get that. but why sit the bench for GER when you can start for USA. I'd rather play than sit. would assume anyone else would do the same.

He wants to win the world cup, he's lived his whole life in Germany. He's more German than American. I get it. I'd be pissed if he switches but I get it.

if you put it that way, it's reasonable.

i could care less if he leaves. we can lose with him or without him. life goes on
