San Francisco Restaurant Recs

Going to spending the weekend in San Fran. I'm looking for a casual spot, perhaps in Chinatown, for Friday night, a top notch spot for Saturday night (doesn't have to be formal), and any other good lunch/brunch recommendations.

I can vouch for Slanted Door, The House, Gary Danko as well, incredible restaurants
If you're feeling adventurous, try Incanto
and you're staying close to Tadich Grill

I went to the House of Nanking and the Empress of China.
House of Nanking had awesome food. Sort of reminds me of a New York type restuarant in Hell's Kitchen where you are literally sitting right next to strangers. Not formal, but a very good experience.
Empress of China. Great view of the city and the food was very good. The night I went, the vibe in the place was off a little. It was only half full whereas the House of Nanking had people on the sidewalk waiting to come in.

Okay, this should be your Friday night.
The House would be perfect for Friday night.
THEN walk up .4 mile on Columbus to La Trappe and enjoy some great Belgian beers.
If you are looking for a top notch place for Saturday night then I would suggest

House of Nanking is solid for sure. I would also hit up the ferry building on Saturday morning and check out where 4505 Meats serves up breakfast and dinner. IF you go make sure to buy some Chicharonnes from him. So good!

For Saturday night we're thinking of Quince, Boulevard, or Acquerello (all have reservations available). Any thoughts on those?
[Michael Mina and Fleur de Lys don't have tables available, and NOPA only has a 10:15]
Also, maybe Sunday brunch at Bar Agricole.

The tadich grill is a great restaurant. It's the oldest restaurant in the city and has a very classic feel.

I have not been to any of those. I would suggest using YELP, its pretty powerful in SF if you use it properly. If I have time I will ask about these restaurants with a foodie friend or two.
One of the greatest things about SF is the # of whole in the wall places that just serve great food. Its ridiculous.

I haveelaten at all three, though only once at Quince. Boulevard will be tough to beat. It's uncomplicated solid food, a beautiful room, well chosen winelist with something for everyone, and pictures of naked ladies on the wall in the bathroom. It's a rare modern restaurant that's survived and flourished over close to two decades. My wife and I celebrated our engagement here and it was a go to spot for us.
Acquarello is a romantic higher end Italian place set in an old chapel. The food is very good and the winelist, though predominantly Italian, is excellent. The parmesan budino and the lobster ravioli (though they call them something else) were my favorites.
Quince is probably the highest rated of the three but I found it just a bit too precious for me. The preparations will be more elaborate, as will the platings, and the service very good bit more formal.
You won't go wrong with any of these, but I would go to Blvd.

Tadich Grill and order the Cioppino. It's one of the few dishes that you just can't get anywhere around here.

I adore Quince, had my wedding dinner there...chef Tusk has a more casual, Italian-influenced place next door called Cotogna...LINK
Would definitely hit Tartine Bakery in the Mission (if you're a bread geek), as well as Bi-Rite or Humphrey & Slocombe for ice creams. Aforementioned Tadich is wonderful, old-school Croation seafood that will remind you a bit of New Orleans, and hit one of the Blue Bottle coffee locations around town.
The upstairs cafe at Chez Panisse is lovely, if you don't have time/space for the full dinner downstairs. And you can check out the cheese co-op across the street.

Just made reservations for Boulevard for Saturday night. The final straw was that it is a finalist for James Beard Outstanding Restaurant award this year.

Boulevard is excellent and you will not be disappointed.
