Am I the only one not liking expansion

It seems like most people like reordering the conferences but I'm finding that it really irritates me. At least the SEC. The other conferences can do what they want, but I like our conference the way it is.

I don't think anyone prefers expansion.
But under the current situation, Minnesota will make as much or more from their B1G 10 conference media rights as 'Bama and LSU and Florida make from the SEC.
That's messed up, and the SEC is trying to improve the financial lot of its members--to get $$$ commensurate with SEC brand value. Don't let anyone tell you that this isn't about money -- there is no other reason for SEC expansion than increased revenue. Other benefits are secondary.
So it boils down to whether you are happy with the current situation now, while others (B1G 10, PAC 12, etc.) improve their situation.
CFB is a business, and successful business adapt and compete, and don't let competitors have too many advantages.

I think 12 is the perfect # myself, but the SEC can't sit back and while the Pac 12 and B1G get stronger.
The SEC was out front in expansion 20 years ago and I think that forward vision is what's lead to dominance on the field. Sure the talent is in the South, but it was there in the 80's as well. Deals like the CBS contract and CCG have been a boost to the SEC and help build athletic programs. If you just rest on your laurels, you don't stay #1 for long.

Can the SEC stay at 14? Do we have to go to 16 assuming that's what the PAC12 does?

not a fan...I do hope we get FSU in the SEC though

I am not a fan of expansion...I liked the 12 team conferences...I also don't care for conferences expanding out of their natural geographical boundaries...the Pac-12 expanding to Texas and Oklahoma seems contrived.

12 is the right number for conferences. Remember the WAC split. At one point it had 16 members but then other schools left to form the Mountain West. 8 schools left because they felt it was too big and deserved more revenue which are shades of what's happening now. It's ironic that all schools in the WAC and Mountain West now would be better off in the orignal 16 member WAC.
The big ten expanded first when Penn State joined in 1990 though it didn't start its football schedule until 1993.

i'm not a fan of expansion and definitely not a fan of conferences with schools that aren't in the same region.
i enjoy taking a quick roadtrip a few hours away to see my team play in another venue against a conference opponent. not a lot of people can spend money on flights nor have the time to fly cross-country 4 or 5 weekends per season.

People said the same thing with Arky and South Carolina and we love those little rascals now.

There is no point in expanding if your footprint doesn't grow. If your footprint isn't bigger, then your TV contracts won't get much bigger. If you expand to 16 but don't expand the footprint, then you've got 2 more teams sharing the same revenue.

I think 10 with a round-robin schedule is perfect for conferences. Obviously that doesn't work due to monetary reason (See Pac-10), but that's the ideal situation IMO.

I vote against expansion every time including Arkie, So Carolina and aggy.
Just keep it among us and bet the shite outta the others with 8, 10, 12, 14 or 16 diluted members.\\

I hate all the expansion talk. I mean a conference of 16 teams sounds awful. I like the SEC how it is. I don't want TAMU, Missouri or VTech in the league. Big 12 needs to get their stuff together and I don't know invite Boise St. to their league. They need a hail mary otherwise we all lose.

It took 20 years to warm up to the last expansion. I don't know if I can handle the faggies! A&M girls are fat and ugly and their fan are like arky fans on crack.
