Are you serious about Castillo? I coach 12 year olds more composed on the ball than him.
Castillo had about a 5-minute stretch where he showed why he might have been called into these camps. Other than that, he was awful. I wouldn't call him up again until and unless he can show that he can play well consistently for a club. I think he's similar to Bornstein in that he just doesn't have it mentally.

He looked scared shitless and he losses confidence very easily. Not good qualities for a defender.

Brek Shea was more dangerous tonight
We watched different games. Shea looked lost out there. Bad touches everywhere, lazy off the ball. Meh.

The only thing that is amazing about Castillo is his speed and closing speed. The kid has a motor. He is just awful with the ball. I bet he lost the ball AT THE LEAST MIN 7 times around the box while attacking.
Castillo has some horrible give aways every game. He was our worst player fo sho.

The only thing concerning with the Costa Rica game is all of our first touches. The majority of the touches were heavy, as frick.
This. I didn't care about the result, either way. Meaningless friendly with only the purpose of separating the wheat from chaff.
Wheat:
Torres
Chandler
Chaff:
Castillo
Rogers
The rest were either already wheat (Donovan, Howard, Bokes, etc) or the jury is out. Edu is probably our fifth best CM (Bradley, Holden, Torres, Jones are all better) but is an important piece nonetheless. Orozco is alright. Shea is one dimensional.

I'll excuse a slight dip in play due to his obvious fatigue. You're overreacting like I did to Edu's play.

Shea set up what should have been a sure goal and sent a couple more dangerous balls that should have been put on target... Donovan couldn't get any of his free kicks or balls past the near post defender. Jose should have been taking free kicks starting in the second half.

Torres is pretty damn good at free kicks. He was taking some in the World Cup

No kidding. Brek Shea has played 48 matches in the past month. Kid needs some rest, but he's too good for Schellas or Jurgen to leave on the bench.

I like Shea as a prospect. He just didn't have that drive against CR. Fatigue makes sense. There were too many times he got the ball at his feet in space, only to trot slowly with it and lose his advantage.

Lulz.
Of course... after 3 caps, he's utterly irreplaceable.

He was the best option on the day.
The point is that Brek has played 16 club matches and 2 Internationals in the past 8 weeks. You do the math on that.

This is such an infuriating thing to watch. Seriously get it over the first fricking guy. This frustrates me no matter who does it.

Played a really solid game.

Too bad Edu missed out on the QPR Transfer. They were looking hard at him via SkySports.

Man I just saw this game a lot differently

He did his job. Tidy in possession, didn't dwell on the ball, navigated out of some tight jams, and disrupted play enough. Solid game, probably in the 90s for passing percentage and had a lot of good touches. I loved our midfield dynamic: Edu protecting the back four and recycling possession, Torres creating deep and dictating play, and Landon driving forward. If our wing play is better we score several times.

Exit Robbie Rogers. I'd like to see Gatt on the wing. Wayyyyy to early to tell if he is good or not. I honestly think Bedoya could do well on the LW.
Mix could play a role in our central mid MAYBE just as good as Jose Torres.
