I keep hearing how they will come in and take the Big Ten this year.

And to be honest i saw basically none of their games last year. But I do know they lost to Texas, Washington, and Texas A & M. Plus a loss o Oklahoma.

That's four losses and a team that lost 3 of it's last 4 playing a whole new schedule. Somebody fill me in on why I am not seeing them as a top 10 team. DId they haul in a great recruiting class?

They're pretty good, but I think Wisconsin still has a damn good shot at being better.

The bowl matchup was stupid, Nubs annihilated them in the regular season. Should be a 10-15 type team, not sure what their schedule is.

They lost to Washington as a bowl game rematch. They absolutely smashed Washington in the regular season - they were never in the right mindset for that bowl game.

Texas just always had Nebraska's number.

They played lights out up until Taylor Martinez got hurt and he was fighting with Bo on the sidelines, I forget which came first.

They are going to be good with a healthy Martinez.

He was hurt in the first half of the Mizzou game, and Nebraska was never the same.

The arguement with Bo came afterwards, during the A&M game. Nebraska scored 6 points in that game. With a healthy Martinez, Nebraska wins that game.

What happened in the Iowa St game tho? Wasn't that like a 7-6 win against an awful team?

did he get hurt in the texas game sprint and played through it?

cause he had an awful game 4 of 12 passing

and 13 carries for 21 yards.

i don't know the extent of his injury, I just assumed he hit a wall, and didn't progress.

VERY good team. If healthy (and mature), Taylor Martinez can challenge Denard Robinson for fastest quarterback in the country. They have a stable of studly running backs plus they add Aaron Green. Their offensive line will be strong if JUCO transfer Jamarcus Handrick is as good as advertised.

On defense they have the best defensive tackle in the nation in Jared Crick. They have two of the best second level players in the nation in LaVonte David (has to get more respect nationally) and Alfonzo Dennard (top corner in the country).

To be honest, outside of games where I have a vested interest in a team, the Wisconsin-Nebraska game is the game I’m looking forward to more than any other matchup this season. That game is gonna be incredible!

Three things work against Nebraska this year and why I don't think they'll win the Big10:

1) They are going to be facing all new teams every game. I can't imagine how much harder it will be to gameplan for that every week, especially when so many teams have new coaches too.

2) The style the Big10 plays...you can't run Martinez 20 times a game like RichRod tried to do with Denard. He'll just get busted up. Not to mention how many teams are running teams versus the pass happy Big12. You have to redo the defense really or you'll get smashed.

3) Nebraska' schedule is ridiculous. They probably play the top 7 Big10 teams, only Minnesota is a give me. And each of those teams is going to be licking their chops to knock Nebraska off too.

Nebraska won't win the Legends this year I don't think, even though I think they're going to be a good to great team. Just too much working against them.

The Big Ten definitely tried to f them in their first year since expansion. You know they don’t want Nebraska to come in and win their conference the first year. They freaking f’ed them schedule-wise.

if you can keep them from running it down your throat - they can be beaten. You have to make Martinez beat you with his arm .Easier said than done though.

Yes, they are good, not great.

Big 10 is perceived to be weak.

This is why most people pick Neb. to win the Big10

I think this has more to do with the state of the Big Ten more so than Nebraska's actual ability.

I still don't trust Pelini as a head coach. A lot of his game management decisions have been questionable at best and his constant intensity might do more harm than good.

I don't really think it's that as much as Ohio St saying they want to play Nebraska, Penn St saying they want to play Nebraska, Wisconsin saying they want to play Nebraska...all of those matchups are marquee and generate interest in the Big10. They would have been stupid not to have Nebraska play those three. Then the 5 in their division. Sucks for Nebraska, but ultimately its great for the Big10 - I really don't think they have an interest in how Nebraska does. Don't forget Penn St won the Big10 in their first year. I think it shows that they made a good fit in their expansion if Nebraska can come in and win the league.

or, and I just thinking outside the box here, maybe they think NU is the best team?

I agree with Sprint though, will be an adjustment preparing for 9 games vs new teams, I'm pick MSU to win whatever gay division that is.

Pretty much this same Nebraska team lost at home to the worst Texas team in a generation.

For all of the faults of the Longhorns last season, and there were many, the Texas D had a lot of quality athletes and were able to keep Martinez in check.....and then everything fell apart for Nebraska.

Teams like Ohio State & Wiscy will be able to do the same.
