Jakes Famous Crawfish
I am going to visit it again on 9/15.
ETA - not to have crawfish, either.

I'm tired of salmon. I started eating crawfish in Oregon about 50 years ago. Admittedly, I think most Oregonians would opt for Dungeness crab, or salmon over crawfish, but we do have them and they've been a part of Oregon food history for a very long time.
I have an uncle that guides and holds the record for the largest salmon in the clackamas. I have eaten salmon every which way it can be prepared. I still barf a little thinking about the salmon pie grandpa made us eat as kids.
You'll enjoy this, did you know the Trask Indian tribe use to catch salmon and use it for "FUEL". Yep, they cooked over it and heated with it. It was easier catching salmon and drying it for the oil than it was gathering wood for a fire. LOL

Oregon has the most breweries per capita in the united states i believe.
Sorry to disappoint you but that title belongs to Vermont. There is a brewery for every 29k people there. Oregon is #2
Thats a pretty poor way to judge how much people drink btw. Utah has more breweries than half the country.

Not two weeks ago I was craw fish trapping in Timmothy Lake.
What are your methods for trapping Crawfish in Oregon?
Serious question as people do different things in different places. I used to run my own Crawfish operation when I was younger and we used a combination of pyramid and pillar traps.
When I think of crawfishing I think of Louisiana and not Oregon so I'm intrigued.

I don't drink quantity anymore anyway. I stay in shape and don't like hangovers. I will binge on a gameday though.

I too am glad to see you all spell them corrrectly.
You should visit Louisiana around late April or May. You may find out that there is indeed an art to boiling crawfish.
Or, when they're in season (March-June is usually best), order some from Tony's Seafood in BR and have them shipped to you and a few friends(they ship nationwide). Their boiled crawfish are right up there with the very best.....

I was just stating the microbrewery numbers has as much to do with state laws than it does to the number of people that like beer.
States where the laws are more lax to opening a brewery the more you will have.
Also has a lot to do with how much influence large breweries have on local distribution chains.
-- As for as someone saying that they would season the crawfish the same as they do down here I want to see a recipe before I give that any credibility.

I promise you it is shite compared to ours. Don't know about Oregon but your fellow West Coasters in Cali can't cook Crawfish for shite.

You get a big for spelling craw correctly.

We know oregon crawfish isn't as scrumptious as LA but it's pretty good still. Oregon has a ton of great seafood though!

If you want something different maybe.
Personally I prefer blue crab much more.
Now I prefer King Crab over blue crab though.
